“When you hear the name “That Sushi Spot”, you already know it’s the place everyone’s talking about in Woodridge — “You know, that sushi spot… on Green? Yeah, THAT one.”
This cozy little store has become the go-to for when you need a break from pizza and fries and you’re in the mood for something a bit more chashuv but still geshmak and leibidik.
Their rolls are fresh, nicely presented, and really “hit the spot” like the sign says. From classic salmon and tuna to loaded specialty rolls, every bite feels like country-style kavod Shabbos in the middle of the week. The rice is done right, the fish tastes fresh, and the sauces have serious taam – not the bottled stuff you patchke with at home.
The place itself is small but clean and inviting, with that relaxed “up the mountains” feel where no one’s in a big city rush. You pop in, order a couple of rolls, maybe a poke bowl or salad, schmooze a bit with the staff or a neighbor, and before you know it, you’ve got a full sushi platter looking like it’s ready for a vort.
It’s also the perfect backup plan when the oilam can’t decide what to eat:
Kids want pizza? No problem, Chezky’s is next door.
Tatty wants something a little more sophisticated? He pops into That Sushi Spot and walks out like a melech with a sushi combo.
Even though it’s temporarily closed, we’re all hoping it reopens soon, because for many of us, a proper Woodridge night out means pizza in one hand, sushi in the other, and bumping into half your bungalow colony on Green Ave.
Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good kosher sushi with that heimish country-town vibe.“
