My wife and I stopped by takumen to grab two overpriced soft serve ice cream cones. When the lady showed me the charge, it was $15
I tapped my credit card, and to my surprise, she added a $4.34 tip without my knowledge.
I only discovered this after receiving my credit card statement.
Contacted them they didn’t help.
Be cautious, people pulling a lever for just 30 seconds can steal 30% of your bill right in front of your eyes.‼️‼️

5 stars for the icecream, 4 stars for the food. Food's pretty good - but they have insane soft serve.

We’ve stayed in LIC for over 4 years now and we eat at Takumen almost every other week. The best part of our meal is definitely the service. Lert, our usual waiter makes us feel like family. He’s so welcoming and remembers all our favorites by heart. Alex, behind the bar, and the rest of the crew make the whole experience rather beautiful in a city that can often feel impersonal. The chicken karage rice bowl is a steal! So much food and so yummy! The yuzu ginger drink is handmade! Make sure to save room for the matcha vanilla swirl!

Takumen is one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood. Make sure to try the chicken karage, and if you’re lucky maybe Lert will be your server! Oh, and don’t forget to get the match/vanilla- swirl, soft-serve ice cream for dessert!

Very cute and clean vibe at the restaurant. We went for lunch and got some appetizers. Lots of vegetarian friendly appetizers however we thought the two mains (veg ramen and rice bowl) were lacking in protein options (no tofu and egg cost additional). The veg ramen broth was very salty as well. We felt a bit pressured by the waiter who seemed to keep trying to urge us to order more food for the table and dessert even after we let them know we would not like any dessert. For the price we will most likely not be coming back.

Not kid-friendly. I came in with my toddler and was told the wait would be over an hour. We opted to wait for takeaway, but just a few minutes later, a couple walked in and were immediately seated at a high-top—an option that was never offered to us. As far as I know, there are no legal restrictions in Long Island City that prevent toddlers from being seated in certain parts of a restaurant. If you’re a parent or have a family, you may want to skip this spot—we certainly didn’t feel welcome.

Im not sure how theyre handling their food but this was my first time trying their ramen and I got food poisoning a few hours later that had me in agony pain all day. I got the chefs special ramen with chicken as the protein and besides the part where i got sick from the food, the food itself was below average and for $20+ for a bowl of ramen?? toppings are all additional $$ too. so essentially you are paying $20 for a bowl of ramen with no additional toppings. definitely will not be coming back, and im not one with a sensitive stomach either.

Ordered for takeout last week and paid like $25 for it. Then you charge 20% for tip. Ramen doesn't taste authentic. No wonder the restaurant's empty. Better eat cup noodles for much lower cost. It will end up being $30 for one person if you come here.... This is far from a 5 star meal

worst ramen ever … super salty and oil-y across two bowls. an utter disappointment to ramen. the beef curry also was straight up golden / boxed curry. $7.5 sides that taste weak are crimes

Service is great but food unfortunately isn't. Got the nanban chicken rice bowl and waited ages for it, and the chicken came out cold and not crispy at all. Food didn't taste authentic Japanese style. Black sesame latte was nice though.

Food missed expectations, the chicken meatball skewers were probably the best thing along with the Japanese ice dessert (arimatsu?).

The lamb legs looked and tasted like airplane food and the ramen was ok.
