Warabi Omakase Reviews
I’d make that joke more about your own snap judgment and the “authenticity police” rather than the staff’s ethnicity.
I came to Warabi Omakase because it was conveniently located near my friend’s house, which is apparently the extent of my restaurant research these days. No Michelin investigation. No deep dive into reviews. Just “it’s close.”

Amazing service and food! Couldn’t recommend it more highly
one of the best omakase ive had in the city, beats out most of the $100-$200 omakase category in manhattan AND bottomless sake

Warabi Omakase is a popular and well-regarded restaurant offering a unique omakase experience in New York. Located conveniently near a friend’s house, the restaurant impresses with its organized sushi counter and attentive service. The staff is friendly and responsive, making the dining experience enjoyable and smooth. The restaurant’s spacious and elegant setting adds to its appeal, providing a comfortable atmosphere for guests.
The menu features a 14-piece omakase that is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Guests often enjoy a variety of fish, scallop, and botan ebi topped with uni, with some reviews noting the uni as presumably Hokkaido uni. The overall quality of the food is highly praised, and many find the value to be excellent for the amount and quality of food served. Unlimited drinks, including sake and beer, are available, adding to the fun and relaxed vibe of the experience. During the "Extra Time," some guests indulge in additional pieces of sushi, including fatty tuna, salmon, and wagyu, which are offered with two rounds of unlimited ordering.
However, some reviews mention that the seasoning of the rice and fish can be a bit aggressive, overpowering the natural flavors of the fish. Additionally, the experience can feel rushed, especially during the unlimited nigiri rounds, where there is a $5 penalty per unfinished piece, encouraging guests to order responsibly. Despite these minor points, most guests leave feeling full, satisfied, and impressed by the overall value and quality.
Overall, Warabi Omakase combines great value, fresh ingredients, attentive service, and a lively atmosphere, making it a favorite for those seeking a satisfying and enjoyable sushi experience.
