“Thank you Alexis and JJ for your amazing service! My mom and I were craving Mexican food while it was starting to snow outside so we came here on a whim. We were super impressed by the quality and presentation of the shrimp salad and tacos we ordered. And the salsa and chips on the house were a delightful surprise (very yummy too)! Prices were on the higher end but considering the location + the upscale vibe of the restaurant, it was worth it!“

“Solid breakfast burritos and great tortillas, which are like gold here. I haven’t tried anything else on the menu yet, but it’s just a matter of time - the salads look awesome. I moved here from Texas a year ago and love everything about the city (except for the rent), but I do miss Tex Mex and good tortillas. New Mexican is its own cuisine and sure hits the spot while also being healthier, and those tortillas are a game changer. So glad to have found this place, just had breakfast from here, and am already looking forward to going back.“

“We were in town for a wedding, and this was the place where they hosted a pre-wedding celebration. The atmosphere was exciting, and regardless of the large crowd, the servers did an amazing job. Everyone had such an amazing and memorable time.“
“Mi amigos! This place is awesome. Went to La Contenta first but they were packed but luckily Vallarta had some spots at the bar and everything was incredible.
Tacos pescado and Tacos carne asada! Woo. I preferred the carne asada but both made me feel like I was back in mexico. All the micheladas and cocktails we had were incredible. The happy hour too is off the chain. Great prices and great service.
I can’t wait to go back and try more. The nachos were also muy rico.

“This is a hole in the wall kind of space but I had an Al Pastor Burrito from here and I see why this place is 4.8 Stars as of this review. They put LOVE into their food. Ever since I went to Mexico City, I have HIGH STANDARDS for Mexican food and I have to say that this place ranks top 5 for me in the CITY. If you are ever around in the area, I highly recommend. I will be back!“

“Where do I start? The food was on point. The tacos have a hearty feel to them. They dont fall apart and the flavor melts in your mouth. The appetizers are all good. They all pair well with the drink selections. Signature drinks are well curated and thoughtful. The ambiance is bring a friend, a date, some friends and come have a good time. Hospitality is top notch and professional always. I would definitely be back for another night on the town. Thank my cousin for suggesting this place. Cantina 138 needs to be put on the map!

“Lovely quaint restaurant next to the train station. I was interested in a cecina plate, which was not on the menu, but the owner graciously cooked to order for me. The mole veracruzano was different, unique and strong in flavor; unlike the mole I grew up eating. The mole enchiladas had plenty of shredded chicken. Very pleased with the service too. Would recommend, stop by!“

“Had the enchiladas, steak and fish tacos, flautas, wine, and a delicious cocktail with tequila and passion fruit. Everything was really fresh, well seasoned, and service was gracious (we have a toddler) and fast! Definitely will return, and would recommend to families with little ones (they have booster seats)“

“My go-to jerk chicken taco spot. I have tried quite a few tasty options but the jerk chicken with the plantain is my favorite. I do wish Taco Tuesday lasted the entire day. Also, it gets tight inside when there are too many people waiting for their orders. Other than that, I have no complaints...“

“I'm from California. If you want a Santa Monica style burrito, this is the best I've had in NYC since moving here 7 months ago. I'm still looking for a San Francisco/Mission style place, but this is scratching the itch for now! And you follow them as they make your burrito across the counter like at a CA taqueria. The space is bright and stylish with that perfect mix of cozy and cool. Black and white tile floors, huge windows, and a bar that actually makes you want to sit and stay a while. Whether you’re kicking off the night with friends or winding down solo, the atmosphere hits just right.
Drinks? On point. Food? Comfort classics with real flavor. The wings are a must. And don’t sleep on happy hour , it’s the kind of deal that makes you double check the bill.
Moreover, there’s always something happening , karaoke, trivia, or just people enjoying life. It’s got that laid-back energy but still feels alive. Makes sense why people keep coming back.

“First time at Armandos and I really enjoyed their tortas and homemade horchata. Crunchy soft bread, good size and fresh. The lettuce was chopped which made it fall out but thats no issue- it left me feeling full and I got the tiramisu. Good balance on it and hit the spot for desert. Definitely coming back and especially to hear Andrea sing. There's good singers during karaoke but im not one of them lol“

“I went here and ordered nachos which consisted of homemade tortilla chips, melted with cheese, in a bed of black beans puree, topped with crema, guacamole and pico de gallo (and shrimps=one of the options to choose from) and I really loved it. “We’ve always ordered takeout from this restaurant. The service has always been pleasant. While waiting the atmosphere is clean and calm. Families have been dining in or taking out. Appear busy. We’ve been pleasantly satisfied with the food. It’s fresh, very flavorful, great portions and decent prices. Good variation for my family. Kids loved the burger, chicken and cheese quesadillas. We’ve tried the platter Carne asada with onions, shrimp quesadillas, carne asada and birria tacos. Our plates were cleaned and no leftover, that’s how good, it hurt. My picky eater was amazed on how good the food was. Definitely recommend this place if you like flavor. Will be visiting again during a busy workweek where cooking is not happening!“

“Food was delicious and portion was a lot. Service was on top notch and delivery was on time. I took the pic while we were eating, it was more tacos and quesadillas but we eat it. Churros were very delicious and crunchy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. We often order food from this restaurant so I decided to review it today. Employees are very courteous. Birria had lots of meat and full of satisfying flavors. The price was reasonable. I highly recommend.“

“Experienced Tabu for the first time last night & was blown away. It was my best friend’s 33rd birthday and the service was outstanding. When we received our dinner they accidentally brought out an additional chicken enchilada, but the owner was very nice and said he wanted us to try the dish. We also had 2 rounds of complimentary shots and a free dessert. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful ambiance and delicious food. The food was very tasty and the fish was so fresh ! The server Nicolas was great !“
