We went there with my family for Christmas Eve dinner with a party of 15.. Exceptional food and service. Wait staff went above and beyond to accommodate us for a special evening of family and friends. I provided a small gift for my grandson and they did an amazing job of telling him how Santa Claus heard he was such a good boy and left it there for him. We were lucky to have such an experienced waiter that made our evening so memorable for our grandson..I felt prices were very good, food was awesome and served in a timely manner. It’s not easy serving so many people at once food and drinks. Everyone enjoyed their meal and desert. Certainly looking forward to going back!!! If I could leave more than 5 Stars I would!

The food is good. Typical Spanish Mexican style food. Tastes fresh and delicious. Wait staff is polite and friendly. The food came out quick and there was not a wait to be seated. Overall good experience. Expect to pay $30-40 per person including drinks and an appetizer. It’s located in the old El Bandido restaurant building.

If you’re looking for an amazing molcajete in the Hudson Valley, El Zapata in Downtown Middletown is the place to go. This local, family-owned Mexican restaurant came highly recommended—and it did not disappoint.
The molcajete is served sizzling hot in a volcanic stone bowl and loaded with bold, flavorful meats, fresh salsa, and all the traditional accompaniments. It’s a true feast and perfect for sharing. Absolutely delicious and worth ordering.
The restaurant has a bright, colorful ambiance, friendly service, fresh guacamole, and excellent margaritas. Everything from the food to the atmosphere made for a great dining experience.
Highly recommend—order the molcajete. You’ll thank me later.

Went there for a drink while waiting for an order to be ready at another store. I have heard about this place and I know friends that have been here and said the food is mediocre period but I figured I would try there and get a drink now. Keep in mind. I have traveled all over the country for business period I have never been charged when I got charged for 2 doubles of 1800 tequila in a tiny glass period I got my bill. It was $51 $,24 per drink period now keep in mind if you get a tequila Margarita, it's like $14. Period but I got a double of 1800 and the bartender charged me $51 and I have posted the receipt and a picture of the glass period the place is always empty and now I know why do not go here if you go any other place in town you can drink for half that price.

Food made with love and care and the price is right most tacos are only tres dollars that’s three for all you gringos it’s nice on the wallet and keeps the belly happy at the same time generous portions and everything cooked to perfection except for the steak can be a little dry. I would pick the lengua aka ox tongue a lot more tender and juicy if you go the bovine route. The enchiladas with mole was bomb and the chile relleno is to die for that’s green chilies fried and battered with a cheesy filling. And don’t get me started on the rice and beans and next door you got rock fantasy after a meal you can go to the pinball arcade what a perfect date

RUBY ✨
they should call this place Mama's Cocina or something because this is literally the BEST most WHOLESOME Mexican restaurant I've ever been to.
From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm, made comfortable.
I can't stress enough how picky my man is because he's native Mexican so he knows what things are supposed to look and taste like.
We literally had ZERO complaints.
Frozen mango margaritas? ✅ 🔥
Pancita tripe soup? 🔥 🤤
Lengua and carnitas tacos for him
Bistec sopes for me
ATE LIKE KINGSSS!!
Felt like family!!
THANK YOU RUBY!!!
