Is Chris still the owner of this restaurant? I was in Millbrook with my friend many years ago. Walking on the street Chris over heard us speaking in our native language and he invited us for a diner. I have to say the food was amazing!

Went to the Millbrook Cafe on a Saturday evening with my wife and sister-in-law period we started off with the seared scallops and the jumbo shrimp which were both excellent. Cooked to perfection and plentiful. Then we had the salad which was also very good and fresh. My wife had the full rack of ribs, sister in law had the avalon and shrimp, and I had the Brazilian lobster tail, shrimp and scallops. All three meals came with outstanding vegetables and red potatoes. All three meals were cooked perfectly. It is very easy to overcook lobster and shrimp but the cook was spot on, tender and juicy. Service, food and atmosphere were all top notch.
Will definitely be back!

The Cafe is my partner and my go to place for a couples night out. We always pair our orders to share. I have never had a bite or sip that wasn't exceptional . I believe most items are cooked in the wood fired oven, to perfection. We usually go an hour before closing and never feel rushed. We enjoy the cozy ambiance and think it is a good value. Please don't come it is our special place. JK.

As you enter the place, a magnificent setting, adelightful marriage of a cozy dining room and a view of the wood burning oven. Sitting in any table, you have a wonderful view of the workshop-like kitchen where you can see the chefs working. The menu has a generous selection of many types of meat and fish. I would strongly recommend it to anyone.

Classic dishes always executed perfectly. Everything is cooked in their open kitchen on the hearth, the wood fired heat and the cast iron beneath each dish means the quality of the ingredients shine. They’re masters of their work, do pay them a visit in this casual, easygoing family run space. It’s rare to find this level of attention to detail anymore.

I give it one star because of attitude from the female proprietor, Dominika. She is rude! First, she took a long time to take our order because she was too engrossed in discussing the dessert with the customers seated directly next to us. The establishment charges a 4% service fee if using the common plastic currency. It’s extortion. Businesses write off those fees on income taxes. My husband attempted to make reservation 2 days in advance where he had to leave a message. No one returned the call. I then called next day and was able to make the reservation. It never occurred to me to mention the first attempt. My husband finally gets the returned call the day after. Dominika became irate on the phone because she said my husband should’ve canceled that reservation instead of taking responsibility for not confirming it! Dominika then told my husband to not bother making future reservations because of an obvious misunderstanding. Let me say, her wish is our command! There are plenty of other restaurants we can take our business where it will be appreciated with a smile. And, the pricing is way overpriced. Our total meal with 15% gratuity was $127.93. We adjusted gratuity for the service fee. We will not pay it anywhere!

My two boys took my wife and myself to the Millbrook Cafe for dinner on a Saturday night. We all started off with French onion soup which was outstanding. Next were the house salad which was also very good. Wife had the half rack of lamb which she said was excellent. My one son had the rack of ribs which were out of this world. His wife had the rack of ribs which she has had before and she loved them. My other son had the veal chop which he said was tender and juicy. His girlfriend had the salmon which she said was OK. I had the seafood, broiled sole, shrimps and scallops. All the food is cooked in a wood burning oven. My drawback was my piece of fish was stuck to the cast iron skillet. Everybody loved the vegetables but the rice pilaf was somewhat flavorless. Excellent service and atmosphere. Food was pretty dam good. Will definitely go back.
Awful service but decent food. Waited about 35 minutes just to order, appetizers took about another 45 minutes, after two hours my party got up and left because the entrees still had not arrived. Servers and host were incredibly rude and defensive, did nothing to acknowledge how poorly they were doing and got testy/angry when we asked when our food was coming and why every step of the meal had taken so long.
I must say what little food we did receive was good, but it was only a few apps so I don’t know if the entrees would’ve been any good.
Never go here when it’s even remotely busy because they will forget about you and get mad when you point it out.
I’ll never be coming back.

We’ve been coming to this glorious restaurant, the last seven years and Dominika and her chef husband are outstanding servers and chefs. The food is not to be believed we don’t have anything like this in NYC right now—— when you are in Millbrook reserve at the Millbrook Cafe!Amazing! Truly.
Vegetarian options: The owners will customize. They are true gourmands.
Dietary restrictions: Millbrook Cafe is like eating at your best friends home where the couple both went to culinary school w HONORS.Seriously this does not exist in NYC. It hasn’t for the last 20 something years we’ve lived there.
