Tiki 182 is a hidden gem and one of the best sushi restaurants around, offering top-notch sushi and authentic Japanese cuisine. Despite its secrecy, with no website or phone number, the experience is worth a 2-3 hour drive. The decor is charming and the service is fast and friendly. The food includes delicious dishes like shumai, California hand rolls, salmon-avo hand rolls, and modern Japanese small plates comparable to Manhattan's best. Notable appetizers include a trio of vegetable plates featuring okra wasabe, eggplant and string beans, and komatsuna, as well as goma saba, a cured mackerel with sesame sauce. Sushi offerings are beautifully prepared and extremely fresh. Though the prices are high for upstate, the quality and overall dining experience make it worthwhile. Reservations are required, and the intimate setting, including a large bar that wraps around the room, adds to the unique charm of Tiki 182.
