“My son and daughter-in-law had their engagement party at La Cigogne and it was truly a wonderful experience. The ambiance was warm and elegant, making it a perfect setting for such a special occasion. The staff was incredibly attentive, professional and genuinely kind throughout the entire event. Our guests are raving about the fun time they had. The food was delicious; and our guests had a variety of dietary needs, and the restaurant accommodated everyone. “We came here 2 days in a row in February 2026 during some super frigid weather. We were staying in the area for a long weekend getaway. We were super happy that they are indoor dog friendly (well behaved/ leashed dogs only! ) The beer was great. I loved Tommy Boy Farmhouse Ale and Amber Waves Amber Ale. We ended up buying a 4 pack of each to bring home with us. I was so pleasantly surprised by their BBQ offerings. It is very easy to mess up BBQ, but this BBQ was so wonderfully prepared. I have been to so many breweries and BBQ joints that serve dried out, over-sauced meat. The offerings from Smok'd were all excellent. During our first visit we ordered the brisket sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich. The brisket was super juicy and tender. The pulled pork was also juicy and tender. They offered BBQ sauce on the side if we wanted. During our second visit, we sat in the vault. This brewery is in a location that was formerly a bank. The vault was a nice secluded spot. We ordered the ribs and brisket with street corn salad, mac and cheese, and beans. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the brisket had a beautiful smoke ring. The mac and cheese was super creamy and had a wonderful taste of childhood. It was perfect for a day that had a -23F windchill. Overall, great beer, great food, and great staff. We really enjoyed our time here. I love a great dog friendly brewery! We will definitely return when in the area!”

“The Blue Fox Motel is a gem! It is fun, relaxing, and clean. We booked almost the whole motel for a wedding weekend and it couldn’t have been better. The staff is kind and generous. “It has been a long while since I have been so driven as to write a review for a Hawley restaurant. The place speaks for itself.... for a restaurant with very little parking , you will find it FULL with reservations required. We have eaten there several times on a Thursday night during the early bird special menu and I highly recommend it . On a scale of 1-10 I give them a 14. I was referred to the Ridge and have in turn referred many others. A smaller , very comfortable place with 100 year old victorian architecture and some of the best food and broad selection of entrees that I have experienced anywhere in a long time.”

The very notion of a “single scoop” here is an affront to the dictionary: what they present could nourish an expeditionary force crossing the Sahara.

To order one cone per person, as we did, is to underestimate the sheer ambition of this establishment. Each serving arrives like a geological marvel, a glacial formation sculpted by the gods of dairy. My friend Jim, poor soul, received his portion in what can only be described as a Chipotle-sized bowl, though unlike burritos, this vessel overflowed with a volcano of brownies and soft-serve ice cream cascading in avalanches of chocolate.

We laughed, we despaired, and then we did what any mortals faced with Olympus-sized desserts must do: we shared, we surrendered, and we reveled in the sweet delirium. It was an indulgence so excessive that one risks either brain freeze or a diabetic trance, yet every spoonful sang of joy.

Tried their homemade sodas - the ginger one was perfect! Not too sweet. Tried the trout, fried chicken and Lobster Mac and cheese. Both the trout and Mac and cheese were incredible!
