If you want an cafe with great ambiance and food this is it. Oscar and Melvin are exceptional hosts and always made sure our food and service were great- which they were. We had the Osso Bucco and Paella as entrees and coconut shrimp and empanadas as appetizers. Also salad and black bean soup. The food was delicious and plentiful. The sangria was great.
We will be back and I encourage anyone reading this to go and enjoy this cafe and food.

Went for brunch today with hubby & 3 of my friends. We each had a different omelette and each one of us said it was the best we had ever had! Service was excellent & we were welcomed by each person there!!

Friendly neighborhood diner. On the day we visited it was my first time, but my sister and brother-in-law are regulars so we were treated like family. I had some of the best eggplant parmigiana of my lifetime and I'm old. If you are in the New City area looking for a casual diner I recommend the Main Street Diner.

I tried this place once before and didn't like it the first time. So I decided to give it a 2nd try in case it was an off day, and nope, still don't like it. Their prices are way overpriced for subpar quality food. Many things are bland, and they always overcook the grilled chicken to the point where it's dry. The coffee cups don't always feel too clean. Atmosphere is very dated and could use an upgrade. Even if they had a better atmosphere, it wouldn't matter because their food is nothing to desire, and it's high priced for low quality food. It seems that people come here because of the convenient location, but today's experience confirms it for me that I will never return nor recommend this place, unfortunately. I gave a 2 star instead of 1 because the waitress was nice. However, just wish the food was better!
Opa around the corner is a little mom & pop shop with a couple of tables, but much better food and better pricing.

Wholly disappointing and unfortunately overrated.

The place is in a good location, mind you, with constricted parking, so getting there did not offer that much hassle. However, once you sat down and order breakfast, that impression rapidly changes.

In my circumstance, myself and two others joined the Main Street Cafe clientele on a Tuesday morning around 8:15. The greeter did not say much and pointed us to a booth. From then on most of it went downhill with the exception of average-quality food.

I ordered an omelette; my guests pancakes and a eggs/bacon combo. I asked for water four times before obtaining glasses of said liquid. Coffee was fine, and that was refreshed somewhat regularly. The server never interacted with us, while the person at the counter, (a patron I presume), took the remote and selected a movie based upon Resident Evil for all the world to see on the mounted TV facing the restaurant's eating area. The waiter did nothing about this - he seemed indifferent or overwhelmed.

Ultimately, I was curious about this place given that it's next to Carvel and the music school. Well, that curiosity was received by feedback that there are so many other places to get decent breakfast; why would you go to this one?

The place was busy at lunch, but I didn't have to wait for a table. I ordered the breakfast burrito with fresh squeezed orange juice. It was a good portion size. Also, I was offered salsa, guacamole and sour cream to go with the burrito. The burrito was good, but definitely needed the condiments for flavor. The orange juice was delicious. The waiter was prompt bringing my food, but took quite a long time to process my check.

This place has a large menu and a lot of things I'd like to try. I'll definitely be back!
