Delicious and fresh food! Once we found this place we visited for both lunch and dinner the entire long weekend we stayed in New Paltz. Highly recommended.

Food looks and tastes delicious, and portions are large and surprisingly affordable! The salmon entree especially looked SO amazing as well as the Cobb salad! Casual atmosphere 👌🏻

We have loved The Main Course for years. It is our go to place when we are in the area. Many times we will go multiple times in one week.
We noticed a year ago a change. Prior to that every meal was. excuse the hyperbole. exquisite - and medium priced! The menu was interesting and inventive. Every dish was a pleasure and flavorful. Salads and soups were delightful with the combination of ingredients and tastes. It had been consistently good with an inventive interesting menu and very fresh ingredients until recently.
The offerings are still good, and by far the best in the New Paltz area, but not as wonderful as before. We had heard that there was a change in ownership or chef.
They seem to be working on it. The last two times we ate there in July the meals were a little more special and quite good. We were happy to see that. The food is still good, but the quality of the ingredients and flavor and the overall menu are lower. At the same It continues to be our favorite.
We have a lot of appreciation and respect for the team. We see how everyone who works there works hard and caters to our requests.
We wish them luck in getting back to what we have loved.

Waited 30 mins after ordering takeout for a sandwich, name was never called I had to ask if my food was ready. Turns out it was sitting there the whole time. No apology or anything just “here you go”. Maybe if these college kids stop yapping to each other and do their job it wouldn’t be this hard.
Also bland food, because of the long wait. The food turned cold and made my salad soggy.
