I know things have to change...but seeing how the place was virtually stripped of all its character from the days of Steve's ownership just broke my old New Paltzian townie heart. I was glad to see old favorites on the menu and maybe some new ones...it wasn't really the same though. I was sad not to see the wooden booths where one *thought* private conversations could be had and the old wooden bar that had so many great moments of community shared. And the local art...

Since the change of ownership, Bistro has been going down hill. From the complete change on the inside decor and layout, to the change in the food quality and menu. It was unfortunate to hear that long term employees were not even made aware of the change to the inside of Bistro. I ordered a Red Light Green Light, which has been my order since I started coming here years ago. It was so disappointing to have it come out with barely any hollandaise sauce— to the change of sun...

The host was unfriendly and cold. He wouldn’t let us move from the counter to a table after no one else was waiting. It took over a half hour to get our food. The waiter in contrast was friendly and accommodating though we never got to sit at a table despite several requests to the host. We went there a couple years ago and liked it which is why returned. Next time in New Paltz we will eat somewhere else.
