Still leaving rags on the counter that are supposed to be in liquid to kill bacteria. Knives left on the counter and used to help cross contamination. Wiping a knife with a rag and then flicking the left over cream cheese onto the rag which has the knife under it? Not very clean but I did not see the ice bucket on the floor outside the bathroom door on this visit. I cannot eat there anymore. Please have your people or at least one of them take the ulster county food service test and pass it . No jewelry , no long nails, hair nets if preparing food . It is so simple. Put the sandwich you may be making on a piece of clean paper not on a counter next to a knife and rag that has been sitting there for who knows how many hours. The worst was when I watched the person wipe the knife with a rag and then realize they had missed a piece of something on the knife so they used there finger to clean the knife blade and flick the mystery food under the rag and knife.

The baked goods are a bit hit or miss. We got a good chocolate croissant and a rainbow cookie that would have been good but they overdid it with the almond flavoring so it ended up being bitter.

I’ve only had incredibly pleasant experiences at The Bakery until today. The staff are wonderful and amazing at their jobs, but the owner clearly has no clue what she is doing.

I ordered a simple caramel latte and received something that was neither caramel nor a latte. I asked to have it remade only to find out that the “reason I didn’t like it” was because she didn’t even make that. She apparently added fudge?? She “fixed” it by adding more milk and caramel. It appears that she doesn’t know what a latte is because it was most likely a poorly drawn shot of espresso in a cup of stale black coffee with a splash of steamed milk. She is definitely aware of her lack of understanding as when I originally asked for a latte she looked frazzled and after she remade it she asked VERBATIM “is it alright now or still crappy?”.

While I typically love this cafe, I am strongly considering going elsewhere from now on. This is absolutely no fault of the other employees; they are sweet people who make a great cup of coffee.

They ran out of vegan taziki so used the vegan cream cheese instead. They microwaved the falafel so I had to lower my expectations. It was kinda dry and not very flavorful Updated from previous review on 2025-12-27

This place is so cute! The kids section upstairs is a perfect spot for the tiny humans to play while you enjoy a coffee and bite to eat. The pastries and coffee were delish, highly recommend!

Disappointing. I've been here twice, and we will never come back. The older woman behind the counter was very rude to me and her co-worker. As for the food, I asked for an egg and cheese on a toasted plain bagel, and the eggs were scrambled and reheated in the microwave. They were overcooked and 1000 degrees. The cheese was evidently mixed in but undistinguishable. The bagel was heated but not toasted. The super-heated mess was flavorless and not worth the excessively long wait. You'll get a better sandwich from a gas station. There is always an excessively long wait here, which doesn't help. They take your order near where you walk in, so you can't see the rest of the menu posted on the wall, which stretches the full length of the long counter. There are no prices posted, and the menu is incomplete. The bagels aren't marked, so you can't tell what they are. After waiting 15 minutes for your order to be taken, and then getting microwaved eggs, their running out of coffee, and the topper: getting barked at by the surly boss-worker / think Seinfeld "Soup N@zi" attitude, yeah, I'll pass. I will say, their desserts look good, and we bought a couple of black and white cookies that were tasty. My wife also had a bialy that she liked. So maybe they do the bakery goods better. Taking another chance is just not worth the aggravation, though. Suggestions: Stop barking at your customers, show respect for your customers by posting prices, come up with a better order-taking system (move your posted menu by the door where you take the orders), have backup coffee when you are busy, and NEVER microwave eggs if you care about what you serve someone.

A little disappointed that we ordered hot coffee and were given iced. Got sandwiches on bagels and both came out on regular rolls. We decided not to say anything because the girls working were working super hard and were busy. All the food was still good so we were happy about that, but would have liked to try what we actually ordered.

The Bakery used to offer great baked goods, coffee, service and a wonderful little place to enjoy your food. While the ambiance remains, the food and service do not! The workers for some reason cannot get a single order right, the bagels and coffee we ordered were terrible! It is a shame because this was once a wonderful place to enjoy.

Great sandwich, delicious and well made. Good coffee. Bought a round loaf of dark break, delicious as well.
