venezuelan cuisine will soon blow up in popularity as Thai food and Sushi did. Matria is a cozy, casual spot with very reasonable prices, great hospitality and great food.

The place is great. Service was fun although they mixed up my order (corrected it very quickly) but forgot what we ordered when we were paying. Food was unfortunately very oily even though we asked grilled. Flavor was very good.

The owner needs to improve her attitude towards customers. She is very unpleasant to talk, I called and was advised no pre-order was necessary for Hallacas. Upon arrival she indicated that we needed to prepay through the phone. Mind you i spoke to her yesterday 12/23/25 and she said no need because you’re only purchasing 3 hallacas not a big order. I was displeased with her nasty response and her saying “oh well let’s see IF i have anything left”. This unfortunately is not the first time of her unprofessionalism!!!!

I went there to pick up an order I placed the day before, I ordered a platter of their tequeños and mini empanadas to share with my friends at the beach, I ask them if they could have it ready at 8am when I was placing the order and they said yes, the next day when I was picking up my order the lady at the front said she didn’t have it ready because they were out of “pasteles” which the nice men on the phone said to me and I agreed to have the platter just with tequeños and empanadas, she didn’t call me to ask me again to confirm, she didn’t have my order ready, she didn’t even apologize she just said to me that she could just make everything from scratch and had me waiting another 20 min like it was no big deal, I got there at 9:30am which is an hour and a half from the time I ordered to be ready, she was just so unapologetic and reckless, and didn’t care about my time. I love the food there I think is one of the best Venezuelan food at Westchester but I felt so disappointed with the rude staff. It ruin our overall experience at the beach, no breakfast sadly.

I pass this place all the time but never thought to stop in. Big mistake! The other morning I finally decided to give it a try and ordered a late breakfast via DoorDash. I went with the Venezuelan Breakfast, and wow, it was incredible. The shredded beef was perfectly seasoned, the caraotas (black beans) were flavorful, and the arepa was easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The scrambled eggs and sweet maduros rounded everything out and made the meal so satisfying. Now I can’t wait to explore more of their menu. Highly recommend!

Most of the menu in this place has good food. High prices are understood taking into account the price of imports (justifiable if they use ingredients of Venezuelan origin) from the beginning I have not had problems in this area. As a Venezuelan, I am used to the fact that customer service is not the best in the world, but after getting used to customer service as in other places they have better standards, one could expect this place to have them too. Food is good, yes, but sometimes workers have heavy vibes, or act as if they don't want to be there. They should pay them better to attend to people more comfortably.

Delicious venezuelan food. Best place around!
My Venezuelan boyfriend brought me here. My first time having arepas. The food was all so good. The staff was so nice and brought me an extra treat (ham roll which I don’t know what it is called) since it was my first time. I have no idea if it was authentic but he said it was almost like his mother’s. Coming back again.
service was fast, workers were nice, food was delicious and authentic
Food was very very good and the service was excellent. I was able to place my order online and then just picked it up the day of. It was our NYE dinner and all the Vzlan guests loved it. IMHO this place has the best food of all NewRo. Keep it up Al Toque we see you!!
If you want good authentic Venezuelan food this is the place for you. The food at this place is so good! Starting from the cachapas, the tequenos, empanadas and ending with the hallacas and pan de jamon! My gosh all is so delicious. The service is super friendly. The staff makes you feel welcome and of course the place is clean.. As a very picky person this place got 5 stars very well deserved.!
