I mean the food here was decent, but I was very concerned to see that the restaurant has a “C” health grade posted. More troubling than that, however, was the service. The waitresses were extremely rude and inattentive throughout our visit. It genuinely felt like we were being treated differently and that made the experience even more uncomfortable.
The restaurant is not Japanese-owned, which may explain the lack of authenticity and care in both food and service. At times, it felt like they viewed us as an inconvenience rather than paying customers. We were not treated with even basic courtesy, let alone hospitality.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be returning.

I wouldn’t give any stars for the service if I could. And while not speaking English isn’t a big deal in New York, disappearing in the middle of taking an order, not knowing what was brought to the table, forgetting utensils, and rounding up the tip to the higher side without asking—none of that is acceptable.
To make matters worse, we later discovered they had a “C” sanitary grade that was covered up by a promotional poster so no one could see it. In my opinion, that’s basically a crime.
Just a reminder: a “C” means things like droppings, live rats, cockroaches, or flies in the kitchen or dining area. That’s not something to hide—it’s something to fix.

I usually get sushi from here this time as I was finishing up my sushi rolls I noticed one of my sushi rolls had a piece of hair inside of it very unfortunate whoever is back there prepping the sushi has to be more careful.

I would love to leave this review for a wonderful waiter Tapio. I have been dining at Ajisai for a few years now. The service and food is always exceptional but the gentleman named Tapio is the nicest and has the kindest smile. Very polite and welcoming, very sincere person. I would recommend Ajisai to my friends because the food and service is always so great.

Waited over 2 hours for delivery. When finally arrived, Order was incomplete, but the manager wanted to charge us (!!!) to correct the order!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!!
The food is very good. I love it because of how fresh and healthy the food looks when it is served. The truth is that it is a good option to eat there. I went in for sushi and ate a hot plate of chicken teriyaki and it was truly an excellent option on a rainy day, accompanied by a very hot and delicious Miso soup.
