Alice’s Tea Cup Chapter 2 is a super cute spot to have tea time! We visited a couple of days ago and had a great experience. We ordered The Madhatter, and it was wonderful. It had the perfect amount of food for two people. The dining experience and cute setting make this a true NYC gem. I definitely recommend Alice’s Tea Cup Chapter 2!

If you want to pay premium for scones pass their date n possibly hurt your teeth. This place is a scam probably paid ppl for the positive review definitely a tourist trap

Homey with high quality food, tea, and service. Very out of character for a restaurant in the busy central park/midtown area where I'd have expected prepackaged grab and go style products.

We stumbled into Alice’s Tea Cup, Chapter 2 on a bitter Sunday afternoon, the wind whipping at our backs as if pushing us toward salvation. Instead, we found ourselves in the company of shivering strangers crammed into a small lobby, all of us peering hopefully into the rabbit hole we’d been promised. A reservation, it seems, is no guarantee of immediate entry into Wonderland.

When we were finally led downstairs, the feeling of descent was more than metaphorical. The room—small, rustic, a bit frayed around the edges—had an air of neglect that made one wonder whether the Mad Hatter had finally abandoned his tea table altogether. A theme like *Alice in Wonderland* is a gift to restaurateurs: a license to be joyful, whimsical, unhinged. But here, the fantasy seemed to have evaporated. No festivity, no playful nods to Carroll’s universe—just a rather sad little room that felt as if it had given up.

I love tea. I’ve taken it at The Carlyle, where elegance wraps you like a cashmere shawl. I’ve marveled at the precision of it in London, where Fortnum & Mason delivers tradition on a gleaming silver tray. I’ve been surprised by tea rooms in Tokyo, Paris—places that take their cues not just from what’s on the table, but from what’s in the air. Tea, when done right, is magic. But at Alice’s, it was as if the spell had been broken.

The scones arrived first—oddly oversized and excruciatingly sweet, as if meant to placate a palate more accustomed to gas station pastries. I imagined an out-of-towner—perhaps from the Midwest—swooning over them with sugary delight, unaware that scones are meant to be crumbly, buttery, and kissed with restraint. The eggs, though better, bore no trace of inspiration. They were eggs, and that was that. It is one thing for food to be simple, quite another for it to feel indifferent.

The kitchen, it seems, has figured out the bare minimum needed to keep people coming through the door. There’s a business savvy to that, I suppose, but not much love. The service, at least, saved the afternoon from complete ruin. Our waiter—attentive, pleasant, the very picture of grace under pressure—deserved a better stage on which to perform.

So here’s my advice: If you are looking for tea in New York, for a moment of elegance, joy, or even the slightest touch of magic, you will not find it here. There are better places, famous and hidden, both in this city and across the world, where tea is a celebration and not a shrug. Alice’s Tea Cup could be one of those places. It should be one of those places. But on this particular Sunday, it wasn’t.

Great place for tea time.

Really bad service. We arrived when the place was empty, we asked for a table - but the person taking names said we needed to wait 40 minutes. We agreed and sat on the designated waiting area inside. For some reason, he insisted that we wait outside (it was freezing). Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere fancier where at least you will be treated with dignity.

Very disappointing experience. Called ahead to ask if they offered gluten free afternoon tea service and told only scones would not be gluten free. We walked 30 minutes to find nothing for tea service was available. Ordered off the menu instead and ate bagged lettuce, dry chicken and awful tasteless food for $100. Tea was good everything else was waste of money and time. Such a huge disappointment for all of us.

I honestly don’t even know how to rate this place. The only conclusion I can come to is that all the positive reviews were definitely paid for—there is NO way anyone would genuinely say this place is good. The eggs and potatoes? Worse than what you'd get from a random gas station on a highway exit—except they’re charging $45 for it. $45! For food that tastes like regret and bad decisions.

And the scones? A complete tragedy. They were so bad, I almost wondered if they were an experimental art piece meant to teach us what not to eat. I don’t know what happened, but I feel personally attacked by those scones.

The whole experience was a mess. The place was cold, we sat downstairs, which felt like a dungeon, and the lighting? Darker than my soul on a Monday morning. And I won’t even go near the bathroom—let’s just say it wasn’t “charming” in the way you might hope.

I’m shocked anyone would willingly pay for this. Honestly, don’t waste your time or your money.

Alice's Tea Cup has been one of my favorite spots in New York since I moved here 10 years ago. It’s such a friendly, cozy place that feels like part of the neighborhood. When I first came to the city, I visited with my girlfriends and family, and it quickly became a special place for us. I’ve made so many great memories there—it really feels like home.

The staff is always warm and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Their scones are amazing—seriously, they’re the best I’ve ever had—and the tea is always perfect. My favorite is their White Champagne tea. It’s elegant, floral, and so refreshing. I get it every time I visit!

Alice’s Tea Cup is the kind of place that you keep coming back to, whether it’s for a casual tea break or to celebrate something special. It’s one of those spots that just makes you happy. Highly recommend!

Quaint little tea place with Alice in wonderland theme.
Ordered the nibble , the salmon sandwich is great, the pumpkin scone with jam and cream is simply amazing.
Nibble was a bit too much for a single person portion wise.

The place has an old world charm. If you want to be in a quiet place and enjoy a cup of tea with English style breakfast , this is the pace to be
