Asked for a seat at the bar bc I'm going to an event in 20 minutes. They laughed at me. Place was empty which is in no way surprising

The service is slow. Some of the food seems precooked. pastas are the best choice.

Service was fine he did mention the specials, he got the order right. Paid 30$ for calamari. I understand it’s NYC. I don’t care put it 50$ but please don’t give us 10 piece calamari like we kids. You can do better!

All 4 of us loved our dishes! The branzino and spinach was terrific! The black linguini pasta with octopus was tasty. The halibut perfect. The pasta bolognese superb. No room for desserts. Large portions.

I have had dinner here a few times post-covid and last week was the worst experience of them all. I told my waiter the seafood in my plate didn’t look right and he did not care at all, he said the chef was new and Italian so there was nothing he could do. Against my better judgment because of the atmosphere and price I went ahead and ate. I was sick for four days, got grope poisoning, and that was confirmed by my doctor. I called to tell the restaurant manager and he didn’t care either. The restaurant did nothing, no apology or word about removing the bad seafood from their menu that week. I’ll never go back there again.

Altesi embodies Italian sophistication in every conceivable way. From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in an atmosphere of elegant charm and refined taste, with plenty of pops of orange. The menu is a masterclass in Italian cuisine. I have been enjoying this menu for over 20 years. MUST-TRIES are the halibut, rack of lamb, chicken Milanese, lasagna (it is so comforting), gamberi, beef carpaccio, lobster salad, capesante, artichoke salad, risotto of the day, salmon, and of course, the tiramisu. If you can order them all in one sitting, do it. You only live once, and part of living is having an Aperol spritz here.

The owner, Paolo, is a delight, and the impeccable service by him and his team further elevates the experience, making every visit to Altesi not just a meal, but a celebration of Italian culinary excellence. If you’re seeking an authentic taste of Italy with a touch of NYC elevation, Altesi is the epitome of perfection.

Could not have had a better time! Cannot wait to come back and try more delectable eats! Highlights were prosciutto and melon, the salad that had the shaved brussels sprouts and apple was to die for and my entrée which was the veal Milanese I will most certainly be coming back for ..it was pounded perfectly thin and super crispy just the way it calls for!

This was our first time dining at Altesi, it was a wonderful experience. There are many Italian restaurants in Manhattan to try, this one is special. The food was delicious and well executed by the chef. We shared the sautéed shrimp with zucchini and eggplant and Paccheri Veal ragu “Bolognese style” for our appetizers. And our main courses were Roasted rack of lamb crusted with mustard parsley and sweet potato gratin and the Sautéed Mediterranean sea bass with yukon potatoes, spinach and lemon capers sauce.

This is our go to restaurant when we visit Manhattan. We typically stay in the upper east side neighborhood and Altesi is the perfect quiet neighborhood restaurant we look forward to in all our travels. Paulo and his dedicated and attentive staff always deliver a friendly, quiet and delicious meal. We'll be back again for sure. Thank you,Paulo, for always being so welcoming and sharing your wonderful stories - and food! - with us. It's no wonder you have been so successful for so long!

The ambience was good and the appetizer of veal with tuna purée was very good. The main course which was a Wagyu short ribs was very good on top of truffled potatoes. The short rib was very tender on top of the heavily truffled mashed potatoes..

We ordered spaghetti, it was standard. Tomato soup was beyond disgraceful. The service was good but I wouldn't recommend it for food. If you get tired while wandering around Madison, maybe have a coffee.
