I went there by myself. There was nobody else eating there. I ate outside in the patio. Outside, there was an annoying industrial sound that could be heard, but otherwise it was nice. The food was delicious. I got the shrimp with coconut curry thing.

Absolutely loved our experience at Anand Indian Restaurant in NY! We ordered Chicken Curry, Wheat Chapati, Basmati Rice, Dahi Kachori Chaat, and Fresh Lime Soda — and every single item was just perfect. The flavors were authentic, the ingredients fresh, and the portions generous.
A special shoutout to one of the best servers we’ve ever had — incredibly helpful with dish selection and attentive throughout our meal. Their hospitality truly elevated the dining experience. Thank you for a memorable meal — we’ll definitely be back!

If you want 3 pieces of roast chicken and a bell pepper for $70 eat here! But if you want real Indian food, maybe try somewhere else. Also forgot our samosa for takeout🥲

The food here is amazing and the sizes are pretty large. The host is super friendly, always making sure you’re comfortable. The coconut rice is one of my favorites!

I went in around 4:30 pm Friday afternoon. Guy was very attentive, I already knew what I wanted when I walked in, so I ordered. (Chicken tika Masala) food was amazing!!! Only down side about this place is I could have had more. But NYC isn't a cheap place, so I get it.

Food was great tasting. The staff were attentive but too be fair we were the only ones there. Spicy is spicy so if your not advanced in spicy food keep it mild. I would have certainly preferred/ expected more food for the price. Fancy presentation of the food also. Great for a date night.

Monir is a wonderful, friendly host. I come all the way over to this location even though there are other Indian restaurants in the upper east side that I live closer to, because of the delectable quality of the food, and much of it being to the friendliness and environment. Wonderful restaurant, many thanks to Monir for making it a great environment. Every item that I’ve ordered here has left me very fulfilled - as someone who’s explored Indian Cuisine in all places. The music playing is a line above other restaurants, using pre-2000s Indian classics, along with the dark wood and stone ambiance inside. Beautiful restaurant.

Very nice inside, the food was very delicious, I asked them to give me their spiciest lamb meal, and it was super delicious. The waiter was very respectful with us Monir was his name, talked about his culture, and gave us everything we needed. This place is very much a nice Indian cuisine. 20$ - 30$ meals which is very affordable for New York City. I would love to come again here, the food was very good. The atmosphere overall was very relaxing. 11/10 stars (Lamb Vindaloo is what I got, and it was delicious)

Restaurantji Recommends
I think it might have been a wonderful place at some point but it must have dropped off. The food was OK... The mango Lassi I had was straight up fermented into booze and undrinkable. 50$ for a subpar meal for one with a rancid drink.
Brutal.

Really enjoyed Anand! Had Samosas, cheese-filled paratha, mango chicken and the mushroom mattar. All excellent, and the chutneys that came with the samosas were particularly good. Would recommend!

I ordered the shrimp biryani.
The rice had no flavor, the shrimp had no flavor. The cook made no attempt at cooking.
I also had the lamb nan. It was ok.
I couldn't wait to leave this restaurant.
