I came here for my birthday recently and thought it was great! The drinks were unique and super tasty at average New York prices. The atmosphere and vibe were also really good and service was pretty quick.

I hosted my birthday at Apartment 5 last weekend, and while the food and drinks were good and Brandon, our server, was very helpful, the overall experience was deeply disappointing.

Despite multiple email confirmations that the room I booked was a private space reserved for my guests only (7–11 PM), the venue rented the adjoining area to another large group of what seemed like over 50 people. There are no doors or partitions, so our “private” room became a walkway for strangers, who entered freely, ordered from our bar, and disrupted our event continuously. Our dinner started at 8 and by 9:30, what was meant to be an intimate dinner felt like eating inside a club. We were surrounded by strangers.

At one point, I was forced to confront these uninvited guests myself, and one of them verbally abused me in front of my friends - an absolutely humiliating experience. When my friends stepped in, they were abused too. I even have videos and photos showing uninvited people in our paid space, including one where the owner is seen chatting with them inside our room.

This was a complete misrepresentation of what I was promised, with zero event control or guest management. To make matters worse, no one from Apartment 5 has responded to my concerns since the event, despite my attempt to reach out.

What was meant to be a joyful celebration turned into a chaotic and distressing night. Despite telling the owner what the occasion is and her confirming she will print menus for us, she came up to me right before the party to ask what we were celebrating. The menus did not mention me or my birthday at all. We exchanged multiple emails prior to the event and had she really forgotten, a simple email to me would have cleared the matter. Just another example of how little consideration I was given through this process.

I would strongly caution anyone considering booking a private event here, the space is not actually private, could turn into a nightmare club at any point, and the management’s lack of accountability is the bitter cherry on the cake.

100000/10 BIRTHDAY DINNER SPOT. We had a 16 person table Friday night at Apartment 5 and the staff genuinely made my entire night. SO friendly and fun!! Brought out free champagne for all of us and had a candle lit on top of mine AND blew bubble guns as they brought it out like what!!! So thoughtful and they really amplified the vibes of my birthday and set us up for a great rest of the night. My girls and I have been talking about this restaurant since we left, it was actually THAT amazing. I almost want to gatekeep this spot because I know it's about to blow up but I can't shut up about how awesome it was. Couldn't recommend it enough WILL BE BACK SOON

I love this bar. The owner Anna is extremely kind and helpful. We just did a photoshoot using the space for my clothing brand and I feel so lucky I was able to find this space. Apartment 5 is about to be my new favorite go-to bar! Can’t wait to go back with my friends!!

Beautiful space, I went for a private event where the host rented out Apartment 5. The drinks are EXCELLENT. The bartenders were both so knowledgeable and friendly. The food was meh. I got the wings and they taste (and looked!) like reheated Kennedy Fried Chicken wings. Someone else got the rigatoni pasta and it was cold, like it was prepared and left out for 10-15 minutes. I would go back for drinks, but make sure you eat elsewhere. There are 2 bathrooms on the first floor, but the door to one of the bathrooms was broken/stuck so you had to have the strength of Hercules to push open the door. Most people assumed someone was in there, so there was a long for the other bathroom with a functional door.

This place is a vibe, but the drinks are average. There are worse places to spend a night in LES, but its also neighborhood in walking distance to some of the best cocktail bars in the world, so drinks should be judged on that merit.

Overall rating: 3.5

Admittedly, I saw this place on Google maps after recommended & it looked very similar to Hi-Lots just in the lower east side. So naturally I just had high expectations for a place that had different intentions. I went on a Thursday night and it seems like it was just opening up from an event. My friend and I arrived at 9pm and the hosts looked very confused. They said they close at 10pm.. on a Thursday and we just wanted to sit at the bar. Also Google shows it closing at 12:30am, so not sure where the disconnect went. There was only 2 people there, so we were like okay we just want to get a nightcap anyway.

The music was SO LOUD we couldn’t hear ourselves think. It was more of a clubby music scene which was weird because no one was there & “they were about to close”. The vibe in general was just way off. The drinks have clear descriptions so I was a bit surprised that when our drinks came out- they were both watered down with ice. But the descriptions of our drinks weren’t tiki themed.

It was getting so loud at the bar, we just moved our drinks to a table to chat. Overall maybe this is more of a weekend activity, but likely won’t go again. Doesn’t seem worth it to me. And some of these high ratings are questionable.

I threw an art showcase here for some friends and have nothing but glowing reviews to report!
Scheduling was easy. Lounge was spacious and comfortably fit our 30 person group. No venue rental fee or tab minimum on a Tuesday - which is truly the cherry on top!

Brandon and Ashley were attentive and incredibly friendly and helpful.

This is the most perfect place imaginable for an intimate date night with an excellent ambiance. Dimly lit, beautifully decorated, plush and comfy seating, fantastic playlist - it doesn’t get better than this! The cocktails are also absolutely DELICIOUS - we tried the Blood Oath, Biancano, and the drink on the menu that’s supposed to have cucumber. All 3 were delicious.

There are multiple cozy spots and tables to sit down at, more secluded semi private areas, an upstairs area, and the bar, so you can come with a date and feel somewhat alone (with the perfect service from the wait staff that is cheerful and upbeat but not at all nosy or overbearing - but also super easy to find when you need them) or with a group of friends and grab a round of drinks and still be able to chat and hear one another, which is a rarity in LES.

I feel like it’s the perfect pregame spot for Piano’s or Kind Regards, which are right across the street. It’s a haven of a calm, sensual ambiance in the middle of busy and chaotic LES. Definitely would make more sense in SoHo, Greenwich Village, or the West Village.
