Apollo’s Lox Bagels are incredibly delicious and definitely among the best bagels in NYC. The hype is truly justified.
The bagel rolls are delicately toasted, and the salmon and cream cheese combination is perfect. A real treat!
Luckily, the shop in the East Village isn't as crowded as the location north of Washington Square Park. We didn't even have to wait 10 minutes on a Friday at 3 p.m., which is practically a world record in NYC. The team is quick and appropriately friendly.
Since there's hardly any seating, it's best to take your bagels to go and eat them in the chilled Tomkins Square Park.

Went on a Tuesday morning around 8:45am and there was hardly a queue. Heard a lot about Apollo Bagels and it did not disappoint, the smoked salmon on a plain bagel was exceptional. The bagel was different to other bagels I have had, it was nice crisp, crunch, chew and the ingredients were very fresh and flavourful. I would recommend and I will be going back.

One of the best spots to stop by on a weekend morning! I went to the Apollo Bagel in East Village, and honestly — everything was perfect. It’s not easy to find bagels this fresh, thoughtful, and full of character right in the heart of Manhattan.
I tried the Everything Bagel with salmon, the butter & jam bagel, the white fish bagel, and even the tomato bagel — and every single one of them was incredible. The ingredients are unbelievably fresh and high quality; you can taste the difference in every bite.
The vibe inside is just right — great energy, great coffee, and the music playlist fits the New York mood perfectly. Reed and Dan were super kind, attentive, and full of positive energy. Service and atmosphere were both spot-on.
I’ve been here before, I came again, and I’ll definitely keep coming back. This place has easily become one of my favorite bagel spots in the city — and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know. 🥯☕🎶

Overpriced. Long lines in the neighborhood. A sliver of salmon for a $20 bagel. Very weird packaging too. If they’re doing open faced bagel, they should put way more seating out because people want to eat it right away and end up crowding other businesses’ outdoor seating often without supporting them. A very bad addition to any neighborhood.
Absolutely the best lox bagel I’ve ever had and I’ve had many. Everything was perfectly balanced: the bagel fresh and chewy, the lox silky and flavorful, and the toppings just right. A true New York classic done right. I’d come back in a heartbeat.

Bagels are really good, but this place is wasteful despite the compostable containers. There’s no reason you should be using a box for bagels unless it’s a full sandwich. It feels horrible as a customer in 2025 to be receiving a whole box for a little bagel. Also while napkins are nice, each time I go they give me an entire pile (like 10 napkins) for a single bagel. Be better
