This is my second time at the Sugar bar. Overall I had a great experience. There were 2 disappointments. I was there for Prince night. The show started extremely late. The other issue only 3 Prince songs.
Took my mom as she is a huge Ashford & Simpson fan, food was delicious, vibe was perfect and she got to meet Valerie Ashford! Perfect night we would say!!!
The food was excellent. We are from Orlando, Fl and I am so excited that we made it in to dine. The most impressive employee was definitely the gentleman bussing the tables, running the food, and assisting us with absolutely everything. He was amazing. We enjoyed the live music. But if you enjoy a quiet dining experience, this is not the place for you. I will tell everyone I know who comes to New York about this place.
Just stopped in for drinks near the end of the set. Staff was fantastic. Always a good time.
Food was not good at all. The ambiance was poor, especially for the neighboring restaurants.
My Mom took me here for my Belated Birthday Dinner. This restaurant is extremely excellent and customer service was a plus. The hostess Demara and the waiter were gems. The food was extremely excellent and the drinks were also on point. I'm definitely going to bring my Husband back for dinner and my Mom wants to come back for Brunch. I will definitely be making Resversation to come back to dine again. Very happy Customer Timisha and her Mom.
Ein toller Abend mit super Musik (open Mic)! Essen war köstlich und der Caipirinha ebenso. Ein perfekter Abend in dieser kleinen tollen Bar! Wir werden es nicht vergessen! Ein Highlight unseres New York Reise!
The food is great bonus, wonderful music! Just a great place to bring a date celebrate a birthday!
Great find, food was good, only down side is we were stuck in a tiny back room with only 4 tables instead of the regular dining room. Not comfortable, but next time we will request only main restaurant
The brunch at sugar bar was just ok to me. I ordered the two pancakes, eggs, turkey bacon and hash browns. The pancakes were dry, lukewarm and they give you two cold butters that never fully melt onto the pancakes. The kraft syrup in a pack screams corner store breakfast for cheap rather than a high end black owned restaurant. Coat check is $2.00 cash only so make sure you carry cash. Our reservations were 12:00pm. There was no band at that time and only a few people sprinkled. Brunch crowd I assume starts later in New York. Overall I would give my brunch plate 4/10.

Excellent time at the Sugar Bar! Food, service and music were great. I will definitely go again soon.
It was my mother's birthday and we had an amazing experience. It started from the door with a warm welcome to great customer service to excellent food. We will definitely be back soon!
Hospitality was unmatched, I felt like we were regulars the way they embraced us and checked up on us constantly. Everything we ordered was delicious I even took two meals to go and dessert.
A must do if ever in New York City ❤️
