Menu
Basta Pasta offers a mixed dining experience with fresh and delicious food. The wine list is extensive but lacks variety by the glass. The famed uni pasta is creamy but lacks flavor, while the cheese wheel pasta is underwhelming. Adding extra pepper helped, but more salt and acidity were needed. The seafood dishes like seafood Nero pasta, spaghetti with roe, and spaghetti Nero with white sauce are fresh and flavorful, with tender scallops and non-chewy squid. The duck salad, salmon, and seafood risotto are excellent, and the almond flan with passion fruit sauce is a standout dessert. The lychee martinis are terrific. The restaurant’s atmosphere has a first-date vibe, and it is well-maintained and very clean. The staff is friendly and attentive, making guests feel welcome. Some dishes like the Tagliolini pasta are just okay, but the Japanese-inspired pasta never disappoints. The restaurant’s ability to deliver exciting and creative dishes is well-known, and the owner’s careful preparation, such as the Reggiano and Parma prosciutto prepared table-side, adds to the dining experience. The lively clientele's diversity and friendly hospitality create a warm environment that appeals to children and adults alike. Guests often enjoy a fixed menu, with some meals sponsored by the Japanese government, and specific dishes like the summer version of the sea urchin pasta are highly praised. Despite some billing issues, the attentive service and quality food make every visit enjoyable, and many visitors will miss this place for its unique cuisine and welcoming atmosphere.
