240417 Wonderful steak experience. Top notch dishes. Friendly and professional service.Lovely bread basket with delightful soft salted butter. It’s hard to save space for the meat! The Benjamin Salad is healthy and refreshing, with lots of crab meat and apple. I like how it doesn’t have too much greasy or heavy dressing but maybe a little more vinegar will work better here.Baked clams are lovely too. Plump clam meat covered in creamy sauce, without being overpowered.Hot plates before steak. Legit.NY Sirloin bone in.The crust is insane. ? Every crispy without being burnt. Beautifully buttery, fragrant, yet not greasy at all. Crunchy to the last bite!! The center is gorgeously pink, tender, and juicy. Perfectly medium.Surf and Turf is of great value, filet mignon (allegedly of the same quality as above) and plump pieces of lobster, shrimp, and crab leg. The sauce is tasty and not too heavy. I even enjoyed dipping my bread in it.Asparagus side is also wonderful. Robust, fresh, tender, perfectly steamed.Pity that we didn’t have any more space for dessert (esp cheesecake). Maybe next time!NYC is competitive with many traps as well, but this place still exceeds my expectation, guaranteed delicious. The space is bustling and can be quite loud/crowded/not intimate enough. For us it’s alright, elevated old school decoration without being pretentious.Thank you Edmond and the chefs in the kitchen for making our day <3

Best restaurant I went to in NY. Excellent breads and salad, very tasty meat and divine cheesecake. Order the lunch menu which includes everything for $45.

I am so upset about my experience. I had to warn other future guests about this hostess. It only happened a few days ago. The food was superb. This hostess Amanda obnoxious and acted like me and my guests were beneath her. I don’t know how they hire her. The hostess is the face of a business if she is their face then that said a lot about a company. My guests and I waited a long time to get seated and this hostess Amanda acted like my guests and I were an inconvenience to her. I also think she is a bit prejudice as well.

I had a reservation at Benjamin Prime location. On our way when we googled directions we ended up in-the original Benjamin. I didn’t realize there were 2 locations a block away. They canceled our other reservation. The good stuff::we sat at the bar waiting for a table. I ordered a drink I never had before on a recommendation and I didn’t like it. The bartender quickly offered to replace it. ( I was appreciative and tipped well) . Our table was ready and it was by the fireplace. It was perfect. We were only 2 so we couldn’t order too much. We shared the porterhouse for 2 and lobster & Mac & cheese. ( this location doesn’t have brussel sprouts) everything was wonderful. I think bread/ butter can be spruced up. Now for the special part. When I made the original reservation I did specify it was a birthday(65). I didn’t say anything to this new place and they brought out a crème brûlée and a bowl of whipped cream / candle ( they didn’t sing) lol. It was a wonderful place with great attention. I would highly recommend.

Got admit the manager and staff there were amazing. But the food wasn’t all that to me to be honest. I got oyster (wasn’t fanatic), caviar (amazing), tomahawk steak (wasnt all that), king crab leg (it was alright) but the desert was amazing. I got cremele and lava cake. Both were freaking amazing ! Definitely would come back but not for no tomahawk

Three Japanese people ordered two servings of steak and lamb to share. It was delicious.2024.3 I visited again for lunch this time. For the steak, I ordered filet mignon, which I didn't order last time, but next time I would like to order fillet.

I will start with the porterhouse steak was phenomenal. The reason my rating is low is because me and my brother both ended up getting severely sick at the same time exactly 8 hours after eating oysters here. It was coming out of both ends for over 48 hours and we both ended up needing IV fluids due to not being able to keep ANYTHING down for more than 5 minutes and told it was from food poisoning. I did call Benjamin’s and was told nobody else has called them about being sick that day and they have fresh oysters. I’m no food expert but I am a nurse and considering we hadn’t eaten for hours before (work up an appetite) and went to bed shortly after our dinner, it sure seems suspicious as to where the food poisoning would have come from then. I highly recommend the COOKED food, but personally will never eat from their raw menu again.

I was here for a work lunch. We had the porterhouse steak for two, and it was delicious. The service was outstanding; at one point we had 4-5 waiters at our table, each working on a component of the plate to ensure that the food is served nice and hot. Good value for money, I recommend!

Ambiance of an old steakhouse with lots of wood decor. Next time, I'll dine near the fireplace...

I finally was able to check out Benjamin Steakhouse this week and wow, just wow. I have not stopped talking about the strip steak I had from here since I had it. This is undoubtedly one of the best New York institutions there is. The steak was cooked to perfection. I had no idea a former Peter Lugers employee started this restaurant, and it is no wonder why their standards are so high and their steak is so well prepared. The atmosphere is 10/10 - an old school steakhouse vibe. We also had the fries, creamed spinach, bacon, and oysters - all of which were excellent. I am already planning my next visit here and am genuinely excited to return.

My wife and I always enjoy Benjamin Steakhouse, although until last night we had not dined there as a couple since before the covid shutdown. The food was great as always. We had the "Steak for Two" which was a porterhouse that we shared. We also shared sides of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, which were also excellent. We skipped the appetizers, as my wife has a shellfish allergy and we were not interested in the non-selfish appetizers this time. We each had a cocktail before dinner, and we shared a bottle of Malbec during the meal. The main course was enough for us, but we did each get dessert and coffee/tea after dinner. We each were each given a complementary glass of port after dinner as well. We very much enjoyed all of the food. We finished everything, but the dessert was almost pushing the amount were were comfortable eating. If I were to do this again, I would have skipped the hot fudge sundae and just shared my wife's cheesecake. The service was great, with a lot of attention paid to us by our waiter. We were taking our time finishing our cocktails at the beginning of the evening, so he asked if we wanted him to wait on bringing out the main courses until we had finished our cocktails; we opted to ask him to wait. During this time he brought and opened our wine selection so it could breath. I was somewhat disappointed in the ambiance this time. The atmosphere was more casual than I had remembered. The background music was mostly pop/rock and I would have appreciated a softer genre. That would have helped make for a more elegant experience. I'll certainly be going back again.
