Along with the more popular and well-known Xi'An Famous Foods, Bites of Xi'an is another chain serving food from Northwestern China. I had previously been to their Brooklyn location, and I believe their location in the East Village. Compared to the other spot, I wouldn't order the cumin lamb noodles, but instead recommend either a Rou jia mo/肉夹馍, or their Diao Diao Mian. Update 2 years later. Still great and now I like their lamb cumin noodles more than that other Xi'an place ;-)

I had the lamb cumin noodles, a favorite of mine at Xi'an Famous Foods. These are as good, but a little different. Less spicy and less oily. There is a bit of broth which I enjoyed. This feels less like take out and more like home cooking which I really appreciate.
I had the pleasure of dining in at Bites of Xi’an 56 and tried five dishes: Cold Skin Noodles, Crispy Burger with Cumin Lamb, Mixed Spicy Veggies, Pork and Chive Dumplings, and Garlic Cucumber. My favorites were the Cold Skin Noodles, Mixed Spicy Veggies, and the Crispy Burger — all packed with flavor.

The food is delicious and perfect for summer. I highly recommend the appetizers, especially the Cold Skin Noodles, Spicy Veggies, and Garlic Cucumber. These...
