Broken Shaker at Freehand New York

Amazing atmosphere. Really a shame, drinks are $20/each. Bartender put 0 liquor in both drinks ordered. Margarita type cocktail with no tequila (it’s obvious there’s no alcohol) and a Negroni with no gin. Had a table the waiter took 30 mins to come by. Honestly terrible execution and service makes me sad. Great views.

Okay. This is really hard for me to write because I hate being THAT person but after talking to my friends and co-workers who accompanied me that evening I must speak up. On 6/14 I was attending a work party on the rooftop that was sponsored by my job. We had a tab open. I was there with my co workers and friends. Naturally we were all having margaritas and what not. I had a few drinks. I’ll admit when I stood up I felt woobly but my friend that was with me had not drank as much and was with me all of the time said I was not incoherent, disruptive or annoying in anyway. So what happened next was baffling. She and I went to the bathroom and upon exiting I was stopped by security that said I had to leave immediately. I was cornered off by the elevator as my friend went to go retrieve my bag from our area. It was incredibly embarrassing and degrading. I was only in the bathroom and joyfully talking with my friend about our upcoming trip to South America. Being told I had to leave when my co-workers were equally as drunk was very upsetting. In fact, I learned that many of my co-workers made a big ruckus but were allowed to stay. Why? I am the only Black woman at my party and did not appreciate this treatment. It was incredibly upsetting because I did not receive an explanation either. One of the security guards from my party said he was sorry and that he didn’t see anything wrong with the way I was behaving compared to anyone else. When we were outside of the hotel I sat on the bench and cried hopelessly and apologized to my friend because she had to join me. Might I add we had one more hour left on our reservation and I did not get to partake in it. I will never go here again. They truly give New York a bad name.

I recently went to the Broken Shaker before an event we were hosting. It took me 3 days to recieve a response about even having space for my party. When I arrived we were at a very uncomfortable table sitting on metal chairs. I looked at so many pictures of the venue prior to even booking and did not see a spot like that featured. They were full and said they couldn't move us.
Then, I ordered a mix of appetizers with the waitress however she did not time the order and the food just kept coming out with no place to put anything because we had a tiny table. I kept asking them to hold some food but they just kept brigining it all out.The manager did come over but did not do much to help. Overall it was a bad experience, the food average and I would just reccommend it for drinks with friends nothing corporate related.

We had the best time. The service was fantastic and Aida the host was so welcoming and ensured my friend's birthday was perfect. The East of Eden was delicious! The music could have been better though as it dragged a bit. This place would be awesome with a DJ! But will definitely be back again

Marz was the best!!! Made the experience amazing and so fun. We had the best time ever. This place has the best vibes, the best drinks, and the best staff. If you wanna have a fun time with friends go here! Wont disappointment.

Awful table service. Was there for two hours and the waitress took my card to open a tab and was not seen from again. Took me over an hour to ask multiple people to close me out and get my card back.

This bar is a gem with super friendly staff and a rooftop that offers stunning views. Nice selection of cocktails, making it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy.

I’ve been going here for 4 year and it has always been a good vibe but it’s gotten better. The workers are so cool and the atmosphere is a vibe and the host Marx & Aida are such good energy! It’s hard to find this type of energy in New York
