This bar is alright. It’s a cute concept but the beers were just alright and I’ve never had a bartender be less interested in serving me. Genuinely made my night worse just interacting with this man.

The bartender was super attentive and I really appreciated when he’d shush everyone to maintain the quiet atmosphere. Did not feel like I was in the East Village and I loved it.

Probably the quietest pub in Manhattan, and maybe even NYC. Fantastic selection of beers, lots of them Belgians, and great vibe.

If you like a drink but not the loud bar noises this is the best place to be at! The bartender shushes people if they get loud. The ambience is like if Met Cloister had a bar, painting about or from middle ages and is wonderful. I realised I weighed my words before speaking and had a great conversation with friends over a beer.

The most perfect bar for me. Quiet music. Quiet conversation. Superb beer. Excellent service. If I lived in NYC, I'd get a place near this bar. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.

This is a very unique bar. It can only be in the Czech Republic, but I'm not surprised that it's in New York. It's a very cool place. You can call it the temple of beer. It's very quiet and the beer list is very big and very steep. Here you can talk in a whisper. I really love Banana Bread beer and for the first time in my life I see it on tap.

Today is a very sad day, I decided that I had drunk my tank of beer and decided to give up alcohol. I was very glad to finish this journey in this place! I've been to mcsorlais dozens of times and passed this place by, it's a pity. I recommend it to everyone if you like to think over a mug of GOOD beer, and not to chatter with friends.

Unlike other nearby authentic pubs, this one smells of incense and has quiet chanting music, yet I got an impressive Illinois blueberry sour.

I have been coming here since the ‘90’s it was an OG craft beer spot - when craft beer was only foreign. They have stuck with with Belgian beer roots, and it still hits. The Gregorian chants and the quiet atmosphere are as unique now as they were 30 years ago. This place is an institution and should be paired with McSorleys.

Really unique spot. The atmosphere is like a library. If you want the chilliest experience this is it. Not for everyone

If you’re looking for a contemplative, peaceful, serene place of dwelling look no further than Burp Castle. I myself have ventured only twice into this fine establishment, and first I was greeted by a monk who goes by the biblical name Andrew. However; the second time I stepped into Burp Castle, expecting the same loving experience I was stopped by the unfortunate circumstance of feeling like a burden of society. Firstly, hoping that the heavenly sounds of Gregorian chants would bring wonder to my ears, I was surprised to know that I heard the annoyance of everyone’s voices louder than the streets of Manhattan itself. Then, as I was with my friend who I am introducing for the first time to the grand Burp Castle, I stepped up to the place and ordered two fine beers at the bar, to what my astonishment looked like someone who was almost picked from the glory of Skid road itself, and greeted my friend with the most unkind, despicable look I’d ever seen a bartender give. With a long head of hair and the forest of upstate NY on his face, I’d probably had the worst experience of bar service in my life. Nevertheless it’s a crackin’ spot. 5 stars

Absolutely 5 stars, one of the best and most unique places in the entire city. NYC used to be filled with spots like this where not only did the establishment create a unique vibe, but all the patrons were regulars and kept it on point. It's a calm and quiet oasis in Manhattan like nowhere else. Seeing reviews on here complaining about the quiet atmosphere, and to these people I encourage you, please never come back. ever. The city is filled with hundreds of generic sports bars and dives, go literally anywhere else.
