My husband and I arrived early for our reservation and were able to immediately get a seat at the bar to enjoy a drink before our table was ready. We're not from the area and came to NYC for our anniversary to see a show on broadway. We were excited to eat at Butter as we are both fans of Chef Alex. We had a lovely interaction with the bartender and she made fantastic drinks! We eventually got seated for dinner and our waitress was very friendly. She recommended a great wine. Although we didn't see much of her once our appetizers came out, we had mentioned that we would order our entrees once the apps arrived (which were delivered by someone else). We did notice she frequently visited the table next to us but had not stopped to see us for quite some time. We were pretty much just sitting and waiting, not much fun for our anniversary dinner. Once she did come to see us we ordered our entrees but honestly at that time we were pretty over it and just wanted to leave. The food was great but a bit disappointing to have to wait for such a long time to order dinner as many tables had gotten up to leave by that point it seemed we might be there until closing time. I think we came with reasonable expectations for such a restaurant but unfortunately the service fell a bit flat.

My kids and I used to watched Chopped when they were little. To the point where one Christmas morning my daughter comes running in my room excited about Santa coming, saw an episode of Chopped was on, and sat down to watch and forgot about Santa. If you had told me back then I'd get to eat at Alex Guarnachelli's restaurant...it was such a surreal and beautiful experience. And as suspected from the show, Alex definitely loves the salt.

Honestly, one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Everything was perfect. Will definitely be back!

Our only complaint is that the menu on their website showed they had Salmon, short ribs and a ribeye. None of those items were available on the menu when we got there. Had we known that, we would not have dined there with the limited options available. That said my pork chop was delicious, drinks were great, app was great. My wife wanted the salmon, her backup was the short rib so she settled on the branzino which was good but not great and not what she wanted. In this day and age a restaurant of this caliber should be able to easily update their website menu.

Getting a last minute table at Butter was the surprise of our day and the best way to cap off a busy travel day. From the atmosphere to the Food everything was top notch!
Loved our meal here, especially the pork chops! Brooke, our server, was extremely kind and accommodating, and brought our experience to the next level! A must-try if you’re in the city!
