My small amount of gluten free sweets experience has been very limited, but from it I have often found that the flavors are too subtle for me. Nevertheless, I decided to try By The Way's cookie bar that has caramel, pecans and chocolate (ingredients I normally like) called "Pecan Turtle Bar" ($6). Knowing what flavors were listed for the bar, I could not say with certainty what flavors I tasted when I ate the bar.

It’s such a relief to have a whole store safe for my kids to eat. I loved being able to tell them to pick anything they wanted. They each picked a mini Bundt cake - the chocolate one and a vanilla sprinkle one, and loved it. My husband and I (who are t gluten and dairy free) each picked something as well and all of our selections were delicious! Highly recommend, whether or not you have food sensitivity!

This has been a favorite for years—I am gluten free and my husband is dairy free—so we decided to get our wedding cake from BTW. Helene was so kind and knowledgeable, guiding us along the way to achieve the wedding cake of our dreams. We got a lemon cake with lemon curd filling and vanilla chiffon frosting in a classic antique piped design. In fact, the cake was so popular that our guests requested seconds and ate the whole thing. Thank you, BTW bakery!

By The Way has long been my and my husband's favorite NYC bakery, and they cemented their spot in our hearts by catering our wedding cake! Everything at BTW is phenomenal - incredibly moist cakes and so many special holiday treats (you must try the coconut cake and the almond cookies), but their service and care is also outstanding! The owner herself handled our wedding cake order and was so sweet and truly showed care for our wedding. Delivery and setup were on time and perfect, and they even gave us a basket of treats for after the wedding. Highly recommend!

Bought a cake for our office birthday and decided on "The M" which was described as a vanilla cake with chocolate icing in the middle and on the outside. I thought perfect its classic and simple. I even requested for writing on top which they did beautifully. Great customer service...no complains there. When we cut the cake and started distributing I took a bite and there was a strong taste of coconut. I had to stop a coworker from getting a piece and trying due to her coconut allergy. This information was not given to me at the time of purchase nor was it written anywhere in the store. To my surprise when I look online all of their cakes contain coconut cream (according to their ingredients list). It should be posted somewhere in their store (along with soy which I saw in their ingredients list) for the safety of others. I have purchased cakes from there before and do not recall tasting coconut. This time the taste was strong. It was more of a coconut and chocolate cake. Thankfully we caught it in time.

Got the black and white cake for my girlfriend’s birthday and she loved it. You guys made her day given how hard it is to find gluten free and dairy free cakes. They do same day orders so you can place it early morning.
