Amazing spot for an indulgent vegan meal: all the flavor of southern food with a creative spin and all plant-based. Easily one of the best restaurants in the city!
Obsessed with Cadence. The food is mouth watering delicious and the Franklin Green was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. I took a non-vegan friend here and he loved it too.
The best vegan experience I've ever had. I've eaten here about four times and have never been disappointed. The chicken & waffle dish is my fave, as is the lasagna. Every dish is worth a try and the atmosphere will find you talking across tables to chat with other patrons about what they ordered. Vegan or no, you will enjoy yourself here!
I came to this restaurant for the first time earlier this month My boyfriend is a Vegan and I wanted to do something nice for his birthday so I had made reservations online. Once I walked inside this gem the design the atmosphere was just breathtaking! The server was just amazing she went thru the menu very thoroughly and made lots of recommendations since it was our first time there. And let me tell you the food was just so delicious especially that buttermilk cornbread! It sure taste as if someone grandmother was in the kitchen making it Very fresh and warm! The drinks are done to perfection.I did see the chef coming out many times to greet customers and walk around which just demonstrates how engaged and committed she is with her restaurant which you don’t see a lot today in other restaurants. If your doubting or thinking twice about coming here because your unsure about the vegan food as I was please don’t even think about it! I promise you won’t regret it!
So, I was so sad that I did'nt enjoy the food too much. The slippery tables and floor. The dripping air conditoner. So dissapointing.
We ordered the curried collards, Cajun grits, and biscuits and gravy, and my partner got the banana pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious! Collards were a particular stand out. The grits were served at a cool temp, which was a bit unexpected. They came with something fried, might have been jackfruit, that had a tasty kick. They told us the dishes were meant to be shared and it was a bit awkward to split. The gravy was also amazing, and highly recommend giving them a try. This would have made a good brunch but they’re only open for dinner. I expect we’ll be back here to try more.
My first time eating at Cadence and it was a hit! Got to try their post-Juneteenth special sample menu ($75 per person) which includes some items on their regular menu plus new additions. It was a very fun way to try a variety of dishes at Cadence! Generous portions. Excellent and kind waitstaff. The spread included 6 dishes (although we opted to try both dessert options): 1. Fried pickled okra: my favorite of the dishes and I’m not even a big okra fan! Perfectly crisp but also tangy pickling taste 2. Cobb salad: very solid but nothing too outstanding 3. Fried green tomatillos w/ vegan feta: the tomatillos are excellent! The feta is a strong acquired taste 4. Green chile mac: definitely has a kick 5. Barbecue skewers: interesting texture but overall quite tasty! 6a. Cherry cobbler: rich and 6b. Banana pudding: delicious! Light and airy Will definitely be coming back to try their regular menu staples!
I got the fried green tomatillos, the green potato salad, and the green chile mac and cheese. Everything was amazing! The mac was perfectly spicy and everything was flavorful. The staff was incredibly kind and the chef came out to explain each dish
First time dining at Cadence since Chef Haley took over, and it was incredible. I’m not vegan, but every dish was full of bold, thoughtful flavor. The smoked grits and Nashville hot sandwich were standouts. Beautiful restaurant space, warm service — I’ll definitely be back.
Service and ambience were excellent! However, I just wasn’t crazy about the food. We had basil lemonade (5*, love!) corn dip (5*, awesome!), fried esquites dumplings (nice), grits and a Nashville hot. I found the texture and aftertaste of both the grits and the Nashville hot a bit…weird? Slightly burnt/overfried on the Nashville hot. And also felt more could be done with e.g. tofu or seitan because (this may just be personal preference) it’s nice to have a more substantial protein-y meal to balance out the friedness. Finally, one of my personal pet peeves is when somewhere says plates are intended to share, but the dishes don’t lend themselves to sharing — I.e. are hard to cut up/portion out. After spending $70 each, I would’ve liked to leave feeling wowed, but was a little disappointed.

Spectacular vegan soul food and friendly staff. We loved everything, but if you pressed me for a favorite, that’s a toss up between the cowboy caviar and the grits. 💚
Was packed. Great service. Interesting menu.
Our party tried several things on the menu (portions on the smaller side) )and they were all very good. TThe only thing we didn’t like were grits. The do a lot with a small space but the area that stars seats 6 was cozy and private but lacked ambiance.
Every dish was delicious! Cadence delivered on every aspect. We arrived with no reservation and were seated at the bar within minutes. We ordered the wedge salad, green chile Mac, Cajun grits, and Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The salad came first and was amazing! The dressing they use for it was fantastic. I would literally go here again just for the salad. Next came the green chilli Mac which was quickly eaten. Love the breadcrumbs on top. Next was the Cajun grits with banana blossom catfish. The grits came with corn which wasn’t mentioned on the menu so I just placed it to the side. Super flavorful dish. Highly recommend. Last came the chicken sandwich which was great as well. Excellent dining while in NY.
The place and staff were great, but something about the fancy soul food doesn't quite work for me personally. It was delicious but maybe a bit small. We were instructed that food was supposed to be shared, but some of it was quite hard to share tbh😄I'll probably give it another shot in the future
