The food was great! We were really impressed by how the sauteed string beans were prepared.

We did our wedding rehearsal dinner upstairs at Cafe China and it was amazing! The food was delicious, the space was beautiful, and the service was impeccable. Stella and team were also so easy to work with and we appreciate how flexible they were with dietary restrictions and allergies. Highly recommend them for any special event!!

The best Szechuan chili oil I've ever had. Loved the fried fish filets and eggplants. Service is great too.

Felt gimmicky. Flavors are pretty good but didn't stand out. Would give it a 4/5 on authenticity

Came here for an early dinner a few days ago and from the food to the drinks to the service to the ambiance, this place is amazing. We were helped my Alex who made great recommendations, especially because some members of our group had dietary restrictions. I think the stars of the show for me were the eggplant and green beans, the mapo tofu, and the fried fish! Everything came out hot and fresh. We also had cocktails— mine was a Corpse Reviver #2 which was beautifully balanced and tasty. It complimented the food nicely. My friends were also really pleased with their drinks.

If you’re going to dine at cafe china, I would recommend coming with people who want to share— family style is definitely the way to go here :)

Delightful Lunch Experience.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cafe China. And thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The overall experience was outstanding, thanks to the delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and attentive service.

Our bartender, Edward, provided exceptional care, ensuring our lunch at the bar counter was memorable.

The menu offerings did not disappoint. Standouts included the savory Ma po tofu, flavorful purple and white rice, perfectly cooked string beans, and tender shredded chicken with yellow chives.

The spicy cucumber appetizer, however, fell short of expectations. Instead of the anticipated spicy kick and perfect marinade balance, it consisted of fresh cucumbers topped with a few red peppers, lacking flavor and seasoning.

Despite this minor misstep, I highly recommend this place.

Reservations are essential, as wait times can reach 40-60 minutes. Our bill totaled $112 for two people, including six dishes and hot jasmine tea – a reasonable price for the quality and quantity.

Kudos to the team for the elegant business card design, reflecting the restaurant's attention to detail.

Our rating - 4.5/5.

Thank you and good luck.

Great food, shitty service. Absolutely one of the worst serving experiences I’ve had in NYC for the price range. Shout out the chefs tho.

Authentic Sichuan and Mandarin cuisine in mid-town. We arrived late on Sunday night and closed the place down around 10.30pm. The staff did not rush us and we're kind enough to remind us the kitchen was closing, "last call." The food was well seasoned, tasted excellent. For a vegetables we ordered the stringbeans and eggplant. It came out hot and spicy wonderful. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent.
