Great selection, great food, fare prices. I wish this restaurant was a chain so I could eat at Cafe R more often. I was visiting NY. I ate their often because of the trusted quality and prices.

Only a block from Penn Station on W 32nd Street, Cafe R bills itself as the largest buffet in NY. While COVID has likely changed some of the current operations, one thing Cafe R IS, is a good value for a decent lunch. I've made a habit of stopping in a few times a week recently for a 1/2 rotisserie chicken lunch (with two sides like various salads and rice and beans) for $10.95. The buffet bar is nearly $12 per pound, and until you've done buffets by the pound, you have no idea how heavy takeaway food can be. It's very easy to run up a $20 lunch even as the biggest buffet in the city has a limited selection. The real value at Cafe R is in the service of the cooks at the grill and the hot cooked meals. Pork chops, pastas, and chicken a few different ways are served up hot and fresh to order -- in servings that are truly "Big Apple" sized. From pizza slices to tacos and burgers to bagels, there's plenty to choose from at Cafe R. It may not be gourmet, trendy, or hip, but Cafe R is a decent meal on budgets of both money and time.

Vegetarian options: Usually a good selection of meatless options.

Wheelchair accessibility: No steps. Difficult doors with a wheelchair, but they are usually helpful. Very wide open inside and easy to maneuver.

There should be more places like this. It's a food hall with several restaurants. I was there at 7 am and only the Mexican place was open. The ordering system was terrible, but my pancakes were good.

Convenient place for lunch or any quick meal. Open from 6 am to 9 pm. There's a big salad and hot food bar as well as stations for burritos, teriyaki, sushi, and the grill.

We hadn't realized that the grill was, in fact, open because it looked shut down for the evening and no employees came forth offering to service us, so we headed toward the buffet at $10.99/lb. None of the dishes were labeled, so I cannot specify the dish names. The chicken in the sweet red sauce was stiff. The plastic cutlery wouldn't cut into it and it was an ordeal to brake it down into smaller bite-sized pieces. The chicken with the vegetables was a bit easier to cut into and okay in taste. None of the dishes had a wow factor at all. The fried rice was okay, but also had a stiff or undercooked quality to it.The dumplings were not soft at all and at some point I gave up with the hard dough and just ate the stuffing inside.Someone in my party had to use the restroom and mentioned how sticky the floor was, so the rest of us opted out from using it.The only thing worthy of mention was the cashier and his enthusiastic customer service.Extremely overpriced food considering the lack of quality.

Huge cafe/restaurant with cooking and food prep stations. You can get almost anything so great for a party that wants different things. Good prices too but the whole place feels a bit 'budget'.

Absolutely love this place. The food is great, with so much to choose from. A nice place to eat no matter what time of day.

It was pricey 21 dollars for roast pork, two ribs the noodle low mein dish was horrible tasted funny. The sesame chicken was kinda hard not soft and juicy. They give you free water but it felt like I was over charged for the meal. I was happy there was a bathroom.

The person who was working the 1pm shift handling the online orders did not put my order through. I came to pick it up and it was never made. The gentleman who's handling the online orders during this time was a SWEETHEART and went out of his way to cook the food fresh for me. Gave me a soda on the house too!! He definitely made me walk out happy!

Freshly cooked food, went for breakfast and very good value for money with helpful staff, best food so far in NYC!

The place itself looks really nice, but the food is not so nice! I got the buffet and I decided to get mostly meats, like wings and broccoli beef… and let me tell you I could not tell if it was over cooked or just old because the meat was so dry and so hard and a terrible flavor. The workers were all nice as well! Oh yes and the prices are ridiculous.. for two place and some fruit it was $60 -_-It was the wort $60 of my life. Try it at your own risk

It was nice to find a place to sit and eat without having to make reservations. At around 6PM, the food was almost all gone or cleared.Whatever was left was overcooked, over salted or very unappetizing! It seemed like a haven for the bar overflow...$45 seemed a bit pricy for two sodas, a burrito, bbq pork with rice and two desert sides. The key lime pie tasted like runny sugar and the steamed broccoli was very sour and salty as if it had gone bad.
