This place never misses. Fun and attentive servers. Buzzy room. Genuinely terrific food. And a wine list to match. Bravo.
Second time dining. Best dishes were pork Sabrosada, duck with mushrooms, beef marrow, lamb belly, skirt steak Scallops with green curry was delish but salty
Service was chaotic and poorly orchestrated. The lack of communication and leadership was bad. We were asked by 3 different servers within 1 minute if we were ready to order. Timing is totally missing and no one took ownership of our experience. Food is very good but would not return.
Good food, crowded seating, noisy environment. We went to celebrate a birthday and there was no acknowledgement of that even though I mentioned it in our reservation. But all in all, good food not one I'd recommend for a special occasion or even a date night.
Amazing experience. We had scheduled to sit outside and it was raining. I called beforehand and the host had already moved our rez to inside. Our waiter was perfect and always there when we needed him (and nothing more). Every dish was perfectly seasoned and had a variety of flavors. My only qualm was that the patatas bravas could have been crispier on the outside.
Casa Mono has a well-deserved spot on the Michelin-recommended list — and it shows in much of the food. The skirt steak was outstanding, full of flavor and perfectly cooked, and the mussels were equally impressive. Most of what we ordered hit the mark, though the lamb was a letdown, feeling pretty mediocre compared to everything else on the table. What stood out, besides the dishes, is how different the dining rhythm feels compared to Spain. Over there, you can linger for hours, sipping wine, talking, and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. At Casa Mono, once you're finished eating, the check comes quickly, and you feel a subtle push to move along. It lacks that unhurried Spanish vibe, which is a bit of a shame given the cuisine they're aiming to celebrate. All in all, it's a strong restaurant with excellent highlights, but don't expect the same leisurely, soulful pace you'd find in Spain.
Few Spanish desserts, only catalana, better desserts at bar jamon. Bacalau croquette not really good. Steak, goat, and wines/sherry options great!
Food amazing as always Casa Mono never disappoints. The fideos with chorizo and cockles are my favorites!
Absolutely FABULOUS!!! Food was AMAZING, service was wonderful and enjoyed the outdoor seating!
Visited in Sep 2025 ; friendly staff with nice table by window (had to reserve as very popular place). The menu had many options ranging from pork, lamb, duck, seafood, veggies, etc. with no single theme running through the choices other than to provide a variety of small plates for sharing. For 2 people they suggest 4-6 plates (4 or 5 was enough). Large wine list focused (exclusively?) on Spanish. Prices are high and I knew this. As such expectations were also high. Ordered : 1) Duck Breast . Was perhaps half of a single breast) in form of two x 5 inch strips that were 1 x 1 inch in width & height. A good amount of elbow force was required to get a slice off. Jawbone had excellent work out. $40. 2) Creamy Eggs (Sea Urchin, Ancient Anchovy Oil, and Walnuts). I've not had sea urchin before so took a risk. Wasn't my thing. The creamy eggs were scrambled eggs. Not good; the plate was left 3/4 uneaten. $30. 3) Scallops (Serrano Green Curry and Minted Cashews). There were 4 and we're properly cooked; very good. The sauce was overpowered by coconut oil ? so scallops were best left on their own to enjoy. $40. 4) Fairytale Eggplant with Manchego Crema. Very good. Very tiny. $15. 5) Burrata (Tomato Gazpacho and Migas) The burrata was good. The Gazpacho was an interesting complement but not sold. $21. Bread was complementary but stale as day old. I left the restaurant very underwhelmed by the food. The prices charged are simply too high for what is being served. With a $91 bottle of wine and 2 x $10 bottles of water it was a very expensive evening ($300 after tax & tip). At these prices you need to be 'wowed'. I'm not sure I would return.
Restaurantji Recommends
Some really great quality seafood spot in Gramercy. Definitely on the pricier side, but these dishes are a great introduction for semi-exploratory eaters. Nothing crazy, but good quality ingredients with classic flavors with a modern spin. Some great dishes were the pulpo and razor clam. If you can, I recommend sitting outside on a sunny day.

Lamb belly, duck liver, Arroz Negro will blow your mind. Every dish is packed with flavors that compliment one another so well.
Creamy egg was good too. Didn’t like the razor clam much - found it to be chewy
