Great food. Nice people. Not the fastest service but enjoyable. Went at 5 pm for a 7 pm show and was perfect. 10 minute walk to the St.James Theatre. 3 of us shared the hummus (had a bit of a kick but great), soup dumplings and original cheese boat. Would recommend all. Enjoy!

Very delicious and authentic Georgian food. Great Georgian win list. Pretty basic ambiance.

My wife and are vegetarians, so we appreciated the wide range of options. She's also allergic to onions, so Lindale (an especially helpful server) steered her through the menu. I had the Pkhali sampler, a cold plate of three vegetable pates served with warm mushrooms; my wife had dumplings with chopped vegetables and cheese; and we shared a cheeseboat, which turned out to be melted cheese with mushrooms and tarragon in chewy yet crusty bread that set it off perfectly. The spice level was as high as we would like it without going over the top, and the after-dinner coffee — perhaps a Georgian coffee? — was strong and flavorful. We get to NYC only once or twice a year but plan to add Cheeseboat to a short list of favorite places.

The food was outstanding! And, the staff offered exceptional service and hospitality. The entire team was warm and friendly. We have added this restaurant into our regular NYC rotation.

I genuinely don't understand how, FIVE years after the peak of QR-code menus, restaurants like Cheeseboat still rely on them without offering a proper menu alternative — it feels lazy and impersonal. From the moment we walked in, things felt off. The host greeted us with complete indifference, not even a smile or a basic effort to be welcoming. Our server bumped into our table over six times during the meal — always apologizing, but never thinking to move us or himself to avoid it. It felt like we were an inconvenience just for being there. We started with their “homemade” hummus, which was so salty it was nearly inedible — and somehow, the cheeseboat had the same problem. Speaking of the cheeseboat, I couldn't believe it was served on paper. Not baking paper — just a regular sheet that got soggy from the melted cheese and ended up tearing and sticking to the food. We were literally eating PAPER with our meal. Completely unacceptable. To top it off, our server didn't even know the difference between dry and sweet Georgian wines — not something you expect from someone serving alcohol. Unfortunately, the overall experience was so poor that we won't be returning. It's a shame, because this place had potential, but the execution, service, and basic dining standards were severely lacking.

Interesting Helks Kitchen find. Unique and tasty cuisine. Not good for a light meal. The cheeseboats are a bit heavy.

Been to this place twice now - one for dinner one for takeout and both times the food was amazing.
I love Georgian food & was so happy when another spot opened!
The dumplings are some of the best I’ve had - they are super doughy but they also are NOT shy with the filling. The shkmeruli chicken is rich and decadent and divine. The cheeseboat selection incredible & the flavors S tier.

The only reason I knocked off a star is the service. It’s slow slow. I ordered wine and did not get it. I waited long after I sat to be greeted.
Still worth going.

I ordered borscht, two lamb dishes, and a napoleon from this place. As a Ukrainian, let me tell you that their borscht tastes nothing like borscht. It has some weird Georgian spices in it and has no meat. This is definitely NOT an authentic Ukrainian borscht! The bread that came with it was stale. It was a very old piece of bred!. The lamb dishes were just OK and the "Napoleon"... c'mon! This is not Napoleon! Ugh. Maybe their Khachapuri Ajaruli (cheese boats) taste better, but my food was just a weird take on buzz word dishes. Very disappointing. The lamb dish in the picture costs $30. It came with no side dishes, just another piece of stale, stinky bread :(

I took a friend and family member who were visiting NYC here and it was the first time for all three of us at this restaurant...by the end I felt embarrassed to have taken the two of them here because the food and service ended up being bad. The cheese for the khachapuri was barely melted and the khinkali dough were still raw at the tips. The server would forget to bring us silverware or refill waters and disappear for long periods of time (it looked like he was staffing way too many tables to be able to provide good service)...after about 10 minutes of waiting and trying to wave over the server to give us silverware so we could eat but him not coming and the food going cold, we ended up walking up to the bar ourselves to ask them to please give us silverware. Waiting for the check so that we could leave also took a very long time. The three of us didn't finish the two dishes we ordered due to the poor quality and we left the restaurant hungry to find the rest of dinner at another restaurant instead.

Delicious, inventive takes on classic Georgian fare. We tried the Meatball and Honeycomb Brie Cheeseboats; both flavor combinations were delectable, and the bread base had a wonderfully fresh flavor. Service was timely. Ambiance was a little dark and crowded, but fine. Looking forward to returning soon.

i am very disappointed they charged me twice on my credit card. Different amounts so i will’t notice easily. Although i paid very good tip and they have very expensive prices they still stole my money. Be careful. i also trusted them before this. I am attaching picture as proof.
