Always my favorite bar in New York with the best drinks and surprisingly warm atmosphere. I'm so grateful for this place.
My server and bartender were both very accommodating and hospitable. Offered me samples to help me come to a decision
A phenomenal experience. The drinks are absolutely stunning, but it's really the hospitality and the warmth of the staff that make Bar Contra an A+ experience. A must-visit in NYC, whether you are a local & longtime New Yorker or it's your first time in the city. Don't miss the food either, especially the beef tartare and the frozen popcorn. Dessert is sure to hit.
I really enjoyed dining here. The service was attentive and observant. The food was plated beautifully. The host was warm and escorted us to our table quickly. I would dine here again or happily come just for a nightcap.
Service was terrible. The bartenders had bad attitudes and were obviously speaking poorly about us after we asked them a question. Would not return.
Wonderful experience! Everything was lovely. The bartender Ruvi really knew exactly what what texture and flavors to show off— incredible service! The food was also showstopper. Great place!
great food, AMAZING desserts - excellent drinks! I would give away some seats so it doesnt feel so crowded and more upscale. The section on the back doesnt feel as nice as the front. I like the place a lot
The experience exceeded my expectations on the food side after all the talk about the drinks on line. The drinks are definitely creative and unique but the food was outstanding, both creative, delicious and elegantly displayed. Don't be fooled by the entrance and small nature of the place. It is legit, the only thing better then the food and drinks was the service, great hospitality, warm and friendly as well as extremely knowledgeable about all the servings. Secondarily the music was on par with the whole experience, perfectly blended not overshadowing allowing for great conversation. The only downside if you want to pick on something is the place is small and seating is very close together but that is minor in the scheme of things. I would try everything on the menu, the Gouda Cheese and Wings were some of the favorites but it was hard to really pick a favorite as all were a culinary experience in true small plate fashion. We will be back no doubt.
The cocktails are delicious. The passion fruit was perfectly fruity and bubbly. The Xipe Totec reminded me of an old fashion but with a surprise. Our server Luke was very knowledgeable and helpful with information so that we could be confident with our choices. The snack mix was hearty. We had the tomato tart, the scallop, the mussels, and the cheese and umeboshi. The many flavors were a delight and satisfied cravings I didn't know I had.
Drinks, food and hospitality were all top notch. Xipe Totec was our fav drink. Scallops were our favorite bite. Luke and the team were awesome.

The best bar in NYC. It definitely can't get any better. Love going there. They have the best cocktails, and service.
Team did a great job with an exceptional dinner and cocktail service and appreciate all the help maneuvering our table size.
My wife and I popped in on a random Wednesday and had the best time. The food was great, the drinks were fun and interesting but familiar at the same time. Service was great. We felt like regulars for a bit. Huge thanks to the gentlemen with the great mustache and our server. I think her name was Pearl, sorry if I got it wrong. But yeah place was great, will definitely be back.
Expected better hospitality for a cocktail bar like this - was good, but staff could have been definitely more hospitable and warm.
Excellent experience top to bottom, friendly knowledgeable team, amazing drinks, great food. What more can you ask for?
