I definitely expected more from the Pernil with the Arroz con Gandules. The pork was super dry. Puerto Ricans love them some mojo /ajo none of that was provided I had to ask for that and lime because it was so dry. It wasn't too busy and it wasn't too loud. The rice was ehhhhhh nothing to brag about. The best part of my meal was the Maduros, alcapurria and the drinks! This was a one try restaurant for me. I have definitely have had better! I should have went with my original gut instinct and had the pepper steak!

This is my favorite Puerto Rican restaurant in New York. It's authentic and delicious, from the empanadas (pastelillos) to the alcapurrias to the mofongo with pernil. I cannot recommend it enough.

Did not eat food... review is based on walking into a 100% EMPTY Restaurant at 7:30pm in the Heart of NYC on a Saturday Night. Place smelled like they poured Fabuloso every wear. It being empty kind of gave us a very uneasy feeling since all the Restaurants we walked past getting there were jammed. For such good reviews we were definitely confused as to why no one was there.

Just had ONE waitress and bartender. No lighting you can’t see what you’re eating. Food wasn’t all that.

GREAT food and cocktails for dinner with friends, family, or a date night! Friendly servers and cool atmosphere inside. The menu is a variety of Latin American dishes, with most from Puerto Rico.

Great friendly service. Well spaced tables compared to the usual tightly packed tables which is common in Manhattan. Authentic delicious Latin dishes. Good value.

If you're looking for authentic Puerto Rican food, this is definitely the place. Amazing food and incredibly friendly hospitable team. The churrasco and beans were really tasty. The coconut mojito was very good as well. The staff is great friendly people and I'll definitely come back.

I was so excited to try this restaurant for lunch. I went for lunch and ordered roast pork with rice and peas and green plantain. I was told there was no more rice and peas and had to choose whit rice with beans which I really did not want. I did not understand how they ran out when they just open for lunch at 2pm but ironically there was a couple dining in one of them had the rice and peas. So funny. I’m like ok. I asked the bartender who took my order was the rice and peas is only for customers who are dining in and he said no they gave her the last. I was baffled because they just opened . When I received my food the beans spilled all over the bag. I felt discriminated against.

My family and I were in NY for Father's Day. We decided to try a random restaurant and I am so happy that we chose Counter & Bodega! We were seated pretty quickly. They were busy but the waitress was still attentive. The food was incredible. It really exceeded my expectations. We would absolutely come back whenever we visit NY again. 10/10 highly recommend!

I love love love the food and their cocktails are amazing! It always feels like a welcoming environment. Some of my faves are their fried calamari, nacho macho.

Service and friendliness of staff was top notch. The meatballs and fried bread were delicious. The only problem was that, while I understand "Al dente" as a Sicilian, the pasta fell VERY short; it was crunchy and none of the small amounts of sauce, on any of the three dishes, was flavorless. The broccoli rabe was so bitter we had to send it back. We were told this was normal because of the Italian region it was grown in and this was how they ate it, "very strong and powerful"...absolutely not. It was overcooked, unseasoned and bitter...no excuse for this. Overall it was just ok. For us, it was not worth the almost $300 we paid for two adults and a child. The ambience and people were the highlights of our visit.
