For Mediterranean restaurant at this price point in the area, I recommend Elea by 1000 miles. 31 dollars for this "zucchini and onion gratin" was absolutely disheartening. The waiters had a big smile but they were too busy to tend carefully. Took nearly half an hour to get our drinks. The music was too loud and it was freezing inside with AC.

Adding it to my list of favorites. And what excellent service! You MUST try the hummus, the dumplings, and the crispy lamb

Amazing service and the food was unbelievable! The Mezze and flourless chocolate cake were definitely my favorite but everything was top notch!

Delishhhhhhh! We chose 3 small plates for the mezze platter- the eggplant, red pepper spread and chicken liver pate, all were equally spectacular. The roasted bass fish was also well seasoned and fun to eat slowly. Drinks were also tasty and the vibe was festive. Would highly recommend.

Visited in March 2023 during a trip to NYC with friends. My favorite restaurant during our stay. We took different meals to share and everything was so delicious. The waiters are very kind and professional. I recommend this restaurant to everyone wanting to discover the Mediterranean cooking.

This restaurant is just simply delicious. I am hoping to try almost every single dish on their menu but I am only a quarter through. The kubahen and the shishbarak is a must every time I dine at this restaurant. Their Labneh is delicious with the flat bread (or anything). Finally, I had the octopus and it was cooked to perfection. The sauce paired with it was something beyond my wildest dreams and it was fantastic! The crudo, yum! Unfortunately, the restaurant is not cheap or average price wise. The dishes that are considered "small" range from $20-$30! Entrees averages around $40. So if you are looking for great food and good ambiance, this is a nice place to indulge. You can also take advantage of their prefix specials if you are into dessert (although it's a limited menu). This restaurant deserves 5 stars for the food. But unfortunately I give it a 4 (no option for a 4.5) because of the price. Also, their portion can be a bit more generous specially with the fish. Regardless, I can't wait to go again and spend more $$$!

Nestled on the north east corner of 91st and Broadway, Dagon serves Mediterranean food created in the kitchen of chef/partner Ari Bokovza. Their brunch menu features middle-eastern favorites like shashuka, mezze, lavash bagel w/cured salmon, and fattoush, while also including Mediterranean-influenced western entrees like cinnamon halvah French toast, brisket/shortrib burger and salmon eggs benedict served over challah bread. I arrived on a super rainy noontime with reservations for two and the restaurant was bustling. The interior is colorfully decorated with patterned floor and wall tiles and a wash of teal around the bar area which evokes a warm sun-kissed ambiance. Seating is enough for around 50-60 people and they can accommodate a variety of party sizes. We ordered: - whipped eggplant mezze $9: with tahini and preserved lemon compote, this was creamy and nutty with a little bit of citrus brightness from the lemon. - muhamarrah spicy roasted red pepper and almond $9: I didn't taste any heat in this but the flavor was good and almonds added a nice crunch. - flatbread $6: to accompany the mezze, this felt a bit much to charge for bread though it was well toasted with a tasty herb seasoning. - bread basket was complimentary : a few pieces of zataar cornbread, a couple small chocolate croissants, jam and butter, nothing too special about this. - shashuka $21: came with an individual flatbread. This was a hearty dish of tomato and eggs. Perfect cook on the eggs, just soft enough without being too runny. - chicken schnitzel $24: terrific version of this--crispy exterior, tender moist chicken. Impressive that they didn't overcook this considering how thin the chicken was pounded. The Israeli salad that came with it was fresh and flavorful, the fries were fresh and perfectly salted. Good tahini sauce too. Would recommend both this dish and the shashuka. - house coffee $5: pretty standard coffee though price for a regular coffee felt a little high. Service was knowledgeable and friendly though could be a little slow at times to get our waiter's attention. Our water was constantly being refilled though. One other thing to mentions the restaurant is very loud, we had to almost yell at each other across the table to have an audible conversation. Overall would recommend for a tasty brunch if you're in the neighborhood.

I had the Lamb and the Cauliflower dish and they were both delicious. Went here with two of my friends and they equally loved theirs. Service was attentive, polite and quick. 5 stars!

I’ve had my eye on this restaurant for some time and have been craving good Mediterranean inspired dishes. Dagon did not disappoint. To start, the hummus with green harissa and tomato jam was hands down my favorite hummus tasting in a long time! The flatbread was warm and delicious coated in fresh herbs and olive oil. What a pairing. My main order of salmon over braised red cabbage with a lemon apple butter was so good I couldn’t get enough. I can see why this place was so busy and packed for dinner service. The menu offerings are simply delicious.Honest review of the service/ambience: Our waiter was a bit absent throughout the meal but were taken care of by other staff members who stopped to check on us. I found the noise level to be a bit much at times. The music was just a bit over the top which seemed to resulted in the majority of diners raising their voices to have conversation so the atmosphere just felt hectic. But it was still an enjoyable experience. After all we are there for the food, right !
