Stay away. General quality of food is poor and not tasty. Service also was not good. When our miso soup was brought to us the server spilled the soup and just walked off without apologizing or cleaning the soup. It was only after when we asked for paper napkins to clean the soup, she came and wipe the table.

Nice little place but the food was very mediocre, considering the price. Service was quick but very direct (almost cold). Will not be back, since there are much better sushi around the area.

The lunch special is cheap, tasty, and plentiful, and it's great. Highly recommended.

There is a simple elegance to this small bistro. The mushroom soup and sushi was excellent. I had a side of rice, crab tempura and tea. What a nice find near Bloomingdale's.

Right next to Bloomingdales, this restaurant has a very unique layout. It has a long bar area with a few tables and has more tables on the opposite side of the hallway. The sushi was pretty good and fresh. I stuck with the standard rolls. Very good. The freshness comes through in the fish. It is a little pricey but it is Midtown Manhattan. Would come back.

To be honest, from a Japanese perspective, I would rate it as 2nd star.
For example, salmon that has been sautéed without salt and pepper is somehow covered in teriyaki sauce, and is accompanied by boiled vegetables. With that feeling, there is no dip of any kind, so it doesn't make much progress. .
The tempura was also quite thick, 3-4 cm thick, and had no salty taste, which is not very Japanese.
The atmosphere of the restaurant wasn't bad, but I didn't think I would be able to proceed unless I was really hungry.
In terms of price range, the food at Ootoya seemed to be much better.

It would be very difficult to find anything good about this restaurant based on recent visit.I ordered a cooked salmon dish that was below average. Miso soup that was like a bowl of hot water. One of the worse meals I’ve had a Japanese restaurant in nycThe atmosphere is dismal and it’s not as clean as it should be.
