I recently dined here and had a mixed experience. I ordered a T-bone steak medium, but it was served well done. While I did eat a portion of it, the quality did not match expectations—especially considering the total bill of approximately $720 for the meal, which included two drinks, a Caesar salad, water, and a small appetizer. In addition to the food, the service also fell short of expectations and did not align with the level you would anticipate at this price point. That said, the ambiance and atmosphere were excellent. The setting was refined, comfortable, and notably not too loud, which made for an enjoyable dining environment. Overall, while the atmosphere was a highlight, both the food and service did not meet the standard I anticipated. I had higher expectations, and unfortunately, the experience did not fully deliver.

Great food at this historic and quintessential NYC steakhouse.

The crab cake starter is very substantial and satisfying. The tuna crudo was excellent - light and well balanced and a great starter if you're going to go heavy into meat and dessert.

The namesake signature rib eye was excellent - great char and went with a medium cook as recommended by our server and it was the right call. The accompanying mashed potatoes and charred kale were too salty for us however.

Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked to a medium rare and really good as well but get the Delmonico, it's so much better.

The salmon was perfectly cooked but we have had better examples. This place shines with their meat.

For dessert the cheesecake is probably one of the best we've had in the city. Perfect example of how a cheese cake should be executed.

The original baked Alaska is really good and a must try as well.

Onto some constructive feedback...
We did have to wait 15 minutes before we got seated and this was frustrating since the check in process seems clumsy and a bit chaotic (you check in with front desk with the attendee then put take your coats in and then a seperate person tries to figure out who each party is to seat them in their spot). Unnecessary confusion and steps.

Lots of regulars were in (you can tell as they get extra attention and love) but service was decent nonetheless but did feel rushed...we had barely sat down or even looked at our menus before servers had come in to take our order. Server also took my wife's drink away before she had finished it. Maybe if they are more efficient with seating people they wouldn't feel the need to rush dinner service. Food for thought.

Had 6:30 reservations and were not seated until 7:05 - They seemed to be putting walk-ins on list - WHY MAKE RESERVATIONS - after we were sat everything was pretty flawless

They lived up to the expectation that I set based on past experiences here. I brought by friends and they were definitely NOT disappointed! The food and service was perfect. So was the ambiance! We will be back again.

Overall, the experience is very lovely from the host staff to the servers. Everyone was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The caviar service was phenomenal and all of the sides to choose from were really great.

Top notch hospitality level. Very attentive, warm, friendly, our server was super nice, checked on our table here and there. The place lives up to the expectations, thanks to the rich history. The meal was amazing, flavorful, delicious desserts!

This place is a must! The food was exceptional. We visited during restaurant week and ordered from the pre fixe menu. The burrata with pesto was incredible, my steak was one of the best I've had and the chocolate mousse was smooth, creamy and not overly indulgent. The sommelier was wonderful and very helpful with making sure we would love our selections. Our waitress was exceptional as well, making sure we never had to ask for anything. We will definitely be visiting again!

Went to celebrate our birthdays. We were sat back in an overflow dining room in a forgotten corner next to an ice cold exit. Over all a bad experience. Would never go back or recommend to anyone.

The service started with the greeting at the entrance; excellent staff. Great interaction with our waiter...

Took my wife for her birthday. They undercooked my steak by a lot. It was raw and honestly, not very tender. They did fix it but still not very tender. The Brussel sprouts were fantastic. The part that got me was when the person came to ask us if we were done with our meal. He asked my wife and she said she was still working on her food. He just took her dish and left?

Food and service were both good, but an automatic gratuity was added for a table of two. I've lived in New York for many years and dine at high-end restaurants weekly. I've eaten at this restaurant three times previously with friends and this was never applied. This time, dining with my partner, it was added without explanation. I always tip very well everywhere I go, and gratuity is something that is given based on service, not something that should be assumed or imposed. The way this was handled left me questioning the reasoning behind it and detracted from the experience. given

Historic venue. Recently renovated. French Fries were amazing. Steak (NYstrip) a little better than average. Caesar salad was good, surprised not mixed table side.

Absolutely excellent steak Delmonico. The boar meat ragu was a little too tangy, but the steak, puréed potatoes and asparagus were excellent!
