Love this little place. The value is exceptional. The menu is really excellent, so many good choices, I had to go with Tofu Boat, and it was excellent. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Seriously! If you ever be around this area make sure you come try Doma.

At the first moment you arrive in this place they give you a nice feeling. Very congenial waiters, it is a friendly restaurant to go out with friends and colleagues or with your date. tasty cooking, creative chef de cuisine, reasonable price and professional service. Highly recommended.

This review is from MARCH..Im really glad that the restaurant is still operating during the covid 19. Doma is probably the most trendy Korean inspired restaurant you can find in NYC -- from the choice of plate, presentation, quality of ingredients to the actual taste -- everything is a memorable experience. It is not the most traditional interpretation, yet it's really good. I'm attaching pictures from when I dined in pre-covid.

Came here on Wednesday night after work to catch up with a friend. Seemed fairly new, but it was pretty crowded even on a weekday night. Doma bossam: this was my most favorite out of all the dishes we got. The pork meat was charred outside and tender inside, and miso aioli on the side added a delicious umami flavor. We made bao sandwich with seasoned kimich and black sesame buns, which made every bite sooo yummy. Korean fried chicken: we ordered this because of all the reviews that raved about it. The skin was crunchy and the meat was juicy. Kimchi aioli sauce was pretty spicy, but it added a nice kick to sweet seasoning of the fried chicken skin. Beef short rib stew: we were sooo full, but wanted something soupy so we ordered this dish. The meat was very tender and rice cake in the soup had CHEESE in it! The soup was loaded with veggies, and I didn't expect to find brussels sprouts as it's not typically used in a Korean stew but it was still delicious and unique. Royal goguma: I don't usually go for a dessert at dinner, but I'm a BIG fan of sweet potatoes so I couldn't pass on this. The mousse cake with Korean sweet potato hit the spot and the sesame ice cream was so flavorful. I liked how it wasn't too sweet either. The restaurant has a really cool atmosphere and staffs were super friendly. I definitely want to come back here next time and try their drinks and other items on their menu!

Doma is a treasure. Stopped in for some quick bites and ended up having multiple courses. The octopus is a must! Everything is very thoughtfully platted with a very high quality of ingredients. Staff was fantastic. You can tell they love what they do.

Got there for a 9pm reservation. There was an 830pm reservation and a walk-in (not sure why that would be in front of us) ahead of us. Waited for a bit and watched the host drink beer with some friends instead of turning tables. Finally got sat an HOUR later. The host apologized and said he would give us free drinks. We didn’t want to drink that night and he said he would bring us some tea. We never received any tea.Started ordering and found the top two items we wanted to order, the Bossam and Korean Pancake were sold out. I mean, I can kinda understand running out of Bossam, but a Korean restaurant running out of Korean Pancake is like a Mexican restaurant running out of Guacamole. We ordered three other dishes... the Ceviche, Grilled Octopus, and Korean Stew. They sat us next to the door and it was cold out so my girlfriend ordered a cup of hot water. The staff was super confused by this request and brought her hot water in a soup bowl lol.The Ceviche was refreshing but felt like something you could get at the Asian counter at a Whole Foods. The Grilled Octopus with Grits had amazing flavor but was so rubbery and SOOO hard to chew that my girlfriend spit it out. Learn how to tenderize octopus! $28 for it. Rip off!The Korean Stew was decent, but $28 for ramen packet noodles, hot dog, Spam, and some cheap meatballs is another huge ripoff!!! That price makes no sense! The only bright side was the waitress. Super nice and smiling all night. She’s the only reason why this isn’t a one star review.I get that it was a soft opening, but get your act together. The food is not well prepared and is super overpriced. And if you are going to sit someone an hour after their reservation, at least remember to give them the free tea you promised (or at least give an app). Maybe the host should stop drinking while working? My suggestion is to take an Uber and just go to k-town for better quality, no wait, and less price.

This is a new, modern korean restaurant in the east village. We had a chance to try it as a part of their soft opening & loved everything we tasted! The ambiance is really nice--it's a mix of modern, industrial and casual. It definitely feels upscale when you walk in, but it's not stuffy at all. The service was impeccable & the staff made you feel at home! Onto the food!: -Army stew: this was really delicious, pretty much what you would expect; however, the presentation was definitely elevated! -Grilled octopus with grits: this was definitely one of the fusion-y items on the menu! reminded me of something you would order at a peruvian/spanish restaurant, but with korean flavors. I thought that for the price, you get a lot of octopus & the presentation again was beautiful. -kimchi arancini: I think this is one of my favorite things we ordered! It was basically fried kimchi fried rice with an egg and pork belly on the side. absolutely delicious and so unique! flavors were also awesome -royal goguma (dessert): I usually pass on dessert; however, this is one you cannot miss! we were really impressed by the subtle sweetness here & the complexity of the dessert. There were multiple parts to it with the cake, ice cream, and then caramelized crunchy structure on top. Absolutely delicious! Cocktails: -blackberry on snow: this was a beautiful drink, looked like a slushy, as it consisted of coarsely ground ice. I didn't love this, as it tasted a bit watered down; however it was beautiful and light! Perfect for summer & felt like it had lower alcohol content -tapered sunset: this drink was definitely stronger & sweeter! would probably recommend this over the former Overall, this little restaurant has such a cool and pleasant aesthetic. All the plates, silverware, food, decorations have a high quality feel to it, but you get this all in a more casual environment! The presentation on all of the dishes is absolutely stunning--some of the most beautiful food I've seen in NYC. Note that the food is definitely fusion, so don't expect traditional korean, but the play on all the unique flavors makes for such a pleasant dining experience!

This is a new place in East Village and is one of the more modern Korean establishments. The owners are the same ones who run Tang Hot Pot but this new place is quite different...in a good way of course. I think they have been officially open for probably one month or so and I recently had an opportunity to visit with a friend. The hours I do like...starting from around 12 pm to approximately midnight Sun M T and W. On Th they are open until 1a and F and Sat they are open til 3am. We arrived around mid afternoon on a quiet weekend and was quite surprised at how cozy the place is. The seating is very limited...approximately 8 tables if I remember correctly. The tables along the right wall can seat at least 4-5 people each but leaves little room for food. The whole restaurant itself is minimalistic but has a very nice decor. The menu consists of Small Plates, Big Plates, Starches and a nice selection of drinks. Due to popularity certain dishes were already sold out by the time I arrived unfortunately but we still managed to order some delicious things. SHISHITO PEPPER - blistered peppers with thinly fried potatoes and miso salt. These peppers packed a bit of a kick and the fried potatoes were a nice touch. This is perfect if you like peppers. TOFU BOAT - hollow tofu stuffed with mushroom medley and mushroom broth. This is piece of tofu is was quite a surprise. Not exactly a brick but a perfect square. It is a wonderful choice for any tofu lover. KOREAN CEVICHE - fresh prawn, squid and conch tossed in Korean mustard vinaigrette. The presentation here is very cute and colorful. The prawn is partially sliced in half so it initially looked like there were two (but only one). The minced seafood and vinaigrette was very tasty. KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) - sweet and spicy soy fried chicken served with fried sweet potatoes and pickled radish. This is not the same as the other Korean fried chicken you would find at other establishment as it more resembled your standard traditional wings you would order at a chicken place. However they were still very tasty and savory. My friend was amused when I told her of a unique way of deboning the wing in order to eat all the meat. The sweet potato fries were a nice touch OCTOPUS WITH GRITS - Gochujang grilled octopus with grits and pickled jalapeño. This was a very beautifully plated dish with two pieces of tender octopus. I have only seen grits at one other Korean establishment. The consistency here reminded me of rice. The sauce added flavor and this was an enjoyable dish overall, ROYAL GOGUMA (signature dessert) - this was in collaboration with Kitsby (a Brooklyn based dessert company) which consists of vanilla bean speckled mousse cake filled with roasted Korean sweet potato and served with a sesame black gelato on the side. Very stylish and unique dessert. Black sesame fans will definitely recognized that flavor and that mousse cake is quite tasty. For drinks, we went with two of their popular cocktails (which are all soju based) BLACKBERRY ON SNOW - jinro 24, junmai ginjo sake, blackberry agave. "A soft ice-blended glacial drink topped with muddled blackberries" This cocktail has both the presentation power as well as the taste factor...as you have both sake and soju combined. TAPERED SUNSET - jinro 24, pomegranate juice, Calamansi. "Essence of sweetened lime, followed by the smooth sour orange notes of Calamansi" The pomegranate made the drink taste like juice and the Calamansi was a unique flavor addition. The service here during my visit was excellent to say the least. I would like to commend those who helped make my experience very memorable. When my friend and I arrived we were greeted by David who promptly seated us after confirming our reservation. He was very accommodating as this was our first visit. He made some helpful suggestions regarding the cocktails and was very apologetic when some of the items I wanted to order was already sold out. Vivian was also there and check on our table to make sure we were doing okay

I came with my friend the other night for dinner. For cocktail I had the blackberry on snow and let me tell you they made the drink beautifully and it was delicious. We ordered the KFC aka their Korean fried chicken and the skin was crispy with a hint of spice and it was juicy and tender. It was one of the best Korean fried chicken and it comes with sweet potatoes fries and side of pickled radish. The grilled octopus was so tender and again their presentation here is on point. We also had their Kimchi Arancini it's basically fried kimich rice with pork loin and they topped with a egg. It was flavorful and delicious and fun to eat. Can forget their temple bibimbap it filled with delicious root vegetables. I had to get their dessert because I love kitsby and their dessert is a collaboration with kitsby. It called the royal goguma it's a mousse cake filled with korean sweet potatoes with a side of black sesame ice cream which is to die for. Service was great and attentive. It's such a chill and laid back environment. Your have to check it out for yourself.

This place is too underrated!! I loved every bit of my dining experience here and I wish this place is closer to me so I can come more often. Interior - the restaurant is pretty much in the heart of east village. It's not huge, but the neon sign that says Doma should catch your eyes right away. The decorations are very modern, plates and silverware sets are cute and pretty. The ambience is lively and cozy at the same time. It was the perfect place for a girls night out. Service - they did an absolutely fantastic job in welcoming us. The servers are very attentive throughout. Every dish that they brought, they would introduce the plate and the ingredients. Loved that!! Super friendly staff overall. Taste - now comes the good part...I loved every single dish obviously because Korean food is my favorite. My favorite was The KFC (Korean fried chicken). Very juicy and flavorful, very addicting. The Korean ceviche was the best way to start the meal. refreshing and came out super pretty. All the other traditional Korean dish - stew, pancakes, bibimbap - all added a twist of new flavors and all brought surprises. Definitely worth the visit guys, if you want something new but traditional at the same time, try Doma!!

Food was okay. The menu didn't have anything unique that made this restaurant stand out from korean-fusion restaurants. With it, the food was sort of pricey for the amount and quality. We ordered the army stew which was barely enough for 2 people, and the taste of army stew was something that could've easily been made at home. The Kimchi Arancini was something new, but the taste was okay - nothing outstandingly flavorful and impressive. The interior was cute and the service was nice, but I'm not sure it made a lasting impression.
