Reservations are tough to get but worth it. Definitely get the Chrysanthemum Salad, Sweet Potatoes, and Sour Dough pasta!

Very overdue review. 😊 My partner and I dined at Don Angie in March 2025, and I’m finally writing this in December 2025.

The food was excellent and unique. It was fun to have something that felt like a creative take on Italian rather than strictly traditional, without feeling gimmicky. Service was polished but warm and relaxed, and the pacing of the meal felt just right.

The ambiance is lovely. It felt intimate and fun, and the windows on both sides made it enjoyable to look out onto the street and take in the energy of the neighborhood.

Deserving of five stars. Thank you, Don Angie!

Great place to go if you're bulking! Less great if you're on a diet. The garlic bread thing was to die for, and their pastas are all hits. A bit too much flash photography going on though...

I thought a lot of the food here was very inventive and delicious but the service here at the bar is really some of the worst I’ve seen in NYC. We were ready to order immediately and the man there took 10 minutes talking with the other waiter. We were served the two pastas and sides all at once which was annoying but fine. The candy pasta “buffalae” was the best dish by a lot. The chrysanthemum salad and sweet potato were good as well. The lasagna was overrated and honestly a little cold because of the way they brought it out. Our server immediately and weirdly abruptly tooled the last bite of buffalae when me and my partner had our head turned and it was really annoying. Lots of good bites and flavor there and he threw it away super abruptly. I’m very annoyed by this and honestly the service here was a major turn off for a high end restaurant with food at this caliber. They are well staffed and equipment is there but the staff members at the bar are not carrying their weight. For this reason more than the food I would rate this not as one of the top Italian restaurants in New York or Manhattan. This is the worst service I’ve ever had paying $100/person for the meal and worst service I’ve had in nyc in years. It was really disappointing. We have eaten at the bar at many of manhattans finest restaurants and it’s generally a similar experience to table side but that wasn’t the case here. The two people next to us also had a similar complaint. It was actually a bit difficult to talk to them and hear my partner because the bartenders were yapping with each other so loud but not even with actual people at the bar like you might typically see.

Food and service were fantastic. Best Italian food i have ever had, the flavors were amazing, as was the ambiance. Had the lasagna, calamari, sweet potatoes, garlic bread, mochi and tiramisu and all were flawless. I hope to come back!

Great experience all around—excellent service and amazing food! The lasagna and espresso martinis were both outstanding, and the chrysanthemum salad is an absolute must-try.

We LIVED! LIVED! LIVED! at Don Angie! The stuffed garlic flatbread was sinful. The chrysanthemum salad was an outstanding surprise of flavor and the rolled lasagna was the star of the show! HIGHLY RECOMMEND ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Worth the hype! I set up notifications on OpenTable and was able to snag a 5pm on a Thursday. Log into your OpenTable account (with a credit card already added) right at 9 AM EST and refresh and with fast fingers, you'll have some options. I think the reservations being on OpenTable have made it a lot smoother than when they were on Resy. Great service, perfect ambiance, and do not miss out on the chrysanthemum salad, stuffed flatbread, of course the lasagna, and would also go for the gnocchi again. All were amazing.

Food was very good-service just ok - had to wait along time for server to refill our waters -place is load and crowded- on the night we visited the dining room was very hot which made our dining experience very challenging and uncomfortable ! Even after we complained. Overall very good but not exceptionable. Fell below my expectations for a place with such a following.

Great food, best service, and amazing atmosphere. Thanks for the experience and accommodating our reservation. I would definitely recommend as a top Italian restaurant to try. It was our first stop on our food experience and it did not disappoint! Would definitely come again for sure! :)

Exceptional spot. Worth setting an alarm at 8:45am to snag this hard-to-get reservation. It was our favorite restaurant of our entire NYC trip.

I've been trying to go to Don Angie for several years but couldn't get reservations. I finally secured one and was super excited. Although the food was good, service was lackluster. I guess I expected more from such a well respected restaurant.

We had an excellent meal at Don Angie. Everything, the food, the service, and the ambiance, was top-notch. I can't wait to return to try the rest of the menu.

The Chrysanthemum Salad, Lasagna, and Stuffed Garlic Flatbread, were very tasty, but too salty for me. The first few bites of each were very good, but slowly got to me as the saltiness caught up. The Buffalo Milk Caramelle was not as salty and had a very nice balance to it, so it was my favorite. The Tiramisu was also very good and not overly sweet. The mocktails were not very good, so I'd avoid them unless you get them with alcohol.
