Truly a neighborhood gem. Visited here many times and never disappointed. Great prices and consistently great prices. I usually get the chicken chunks (boneless) but I had the chicken mofongo instead, my friend ordered the cheese monfongo. My mofongo was great, wasn’t expecting to have two nicely fried pieces of chicken as a garnish, I also like that the mofongo portion wasn’t huge and comes with a side of salad (great for such a carb-heavy dish). Great flavors, but would’ve loved to taste a bit more garlic. The consumé that comes with the mofongo adds all the flavor you need.
Service was okay, atmosphere is nice and it’s great that they accept card and cash.

I saw this restaurant on Instagram and it was raving about the sandwiches, especially Dominican sandwich with cheese and sweet plantains. That sandwich was so dry and so tasteless and I came from the Bronx just to try that sandwich and it was horrible. My husband ordered the steak with the white rice and beans. The beans will watery. The rice was old and the steak was horrible. I will never in my life. Go back there again

The meals here stand out even among the city's best restaurants. The cooking technique is impressive. Get a selection of plates to try together. The team displays natural warmth. I'm returning to try different items.

Haven't had a bad meal here ever. We had a larger group and they were able to accommodate us and took care of us with big platters of delicious food. The neighborhood has changed but thankfully El Castillo De Jagua stays pretty much the same. This restaurant has been around for a very long time and I hope they never close.
The food is always fresh and delicious. Always delivered with care.

My friend took me here for lunch. As we were crossing the street, you could already smell the arroz con pollo wafting in the street. Ummmm.....
Nice comfy, homey, spot with simple tables and chairs. This is a family-friendly restaurant as there was a large family being seated as we were leaving. Service was on point, and our waitress Candi was very attentive. There was so much to choose from the menu, so if there are any vegans/vegetarians, I'm sure they have something for you.
I chose a steak meal with rice and beans, salad, and tostones. The food was fresh, tasty, and seasoned well. I even had room for dessert and chose the flan, which was delicious. So....
If you're looking for a place that feels like home, has attentive service and food that is tasty and reasonable, this is it.
