Okay, here’s the deal—this isn’t MEANT to be priced like regular grocery prices. If you go into grand central market, I think it’s fair to say that—generally speaking—these are treat purchases for special occasions, like a fancy snack for your train ride or a fun dessert to bring home from your trip to NYC. And this is a great place to do that because Eli Zabar is a native New Yorker who has been in the gourmet food business since 1973. The grand central market location began in 2012. Their food is traditional Jewish deli food with more of a gourmet spin: you’ll find your favorites like babkas, marshmallows (in various flavors) and the BEST MERINGUES IN THE CITY. I’ll now talk at length about the meringues specifically because it’s deserved. Are they about $8? Yes. But I specifically will brave grand central crowds to get them, and my family is always mad I don’t bring home more. They come in several flavors in big glass containers by the register: the flavors are almond, pistachio, and chocolate among others. With the nut meringues specifically, they are ripples with caramel and nut pieces and everything just collapses and melts into your mouth in the most beautiful and delightful way. I cannot explain the physics of it, but it’s divine.

Pricing here is insane. $11 for a lemonade that costs $4 normally, $7 for chocolate milk that Murray’s sells for half the cost. Unfortunately they also do not have prices out for most of the things so you’re surprised by the insane markup at checkout.

I ordered an Eli Zabar basket through the Goldbelly site with over a week to spare from the needed delivery date. Each day it was late they told me it would be one more day (still not received and food products supposedly shipped over a week ago) The UPS label is GPS tied and tracking had it never leaving the originator even though I was told it had shipped and therefore couldn’t be refunded. Will never order from either place again.

Bought a baguette with mozzarella and tomato. Worst sandwich I've had in a long time. The tomato was wilted, and the mozzarella was a sliver. I paid $13.00 for this sandwich and the only reason I ate it was because I didn't have time and have a short lunch break. Will never buy another sandwich from Zabar's. Awful and overpriced. I'd give it ZERO stars but that's not an option.

A bottle of lemonade costs $11,97, but the prices on the fridge are half that. This is borderline fraud. Don’t trust them and don’t buy anything. On top of that, terrible quality.

Insane prices! Beyond belief. I asked sow line to grab some fruit, had no idea they’d go here. One basic small non organic even Driscoll 6oz raspberries is $10???! It’s $3-$5 everywhere else. 8oz blueberries are $15??? In what world is this? 16oz strawberries are $16!!!!?? Unfortunately no prices and only realized when was presented with the bill. and still in shock a few days after. STAY AWAY. total ripoff.

If you're looking for a great French baguette.. It's not here. I tried one of their nice looking French baguettes and it was super overpriced to start for a very slim baguette ($6??) and didn't taste like a baguette at all. Just a regular white bread, rather hard as if it was baked yesterday. I won't be buying it again.

This place is just ridiculous , I went for paella rice, which they don’t have even. “Gourmet” market. But checked other things and prices looked so inflated for no reason. Like same yogurt you get anywhere else is twice or three times more. It’s just rude and offensive. Yikes

I went in here for breadcrumbs on my way home, first guy said there isn’t any. The second guy fished it from a box and said they just got them special ? . There was no price on the item itself and he told me $20. For breadcrumbs ? I said no and checked the website it’s $7 which is already crazy. Check your employees

Best baguette in all of NYC! I always get it when I'm in Manhattan and have never been disappointed, simply delicious ? Not necessarily cheap, but worth the price! And what else is cheap in New York? Almost nothing left
