Purchased a bacon egg & cheese everything bagel from here. Threw up after eating it. Clearly something went bad. Charging almost $8 for a BEC, I’d expect the ingredients to at least be fresh.

My friend recently told me about this restaurant. Upon getting food I realize the price is different from
The total. I ask cashier why and she mumbles something. I instantly put my food back because I felt like they was trying to take my money with telling me an actual reason why the price was different. Very shady restaurant. I will go back ! My friend was right about them !

I went to this place over the weekend and I notice the prices are not the same when you check out! Please check your receipts! I saw the cashier tip herself and when I ask what she did she clear the screen . Be careful at this location. Anything Essen stay away

I've been going there for almost 2 years. Food is okay and I've never gotten used to their unique hours but I still go. This review isn't about their food though.
I went to get breakfast, paid $6.45 for my breakfast sandwich and walked out. I checked my phone and saw that the mobile payment processed. Halfway down the block, the cashier came tapping me on my shoulder to accost me for not paying for my sandwich. I tried to tell her that I paid but she insisted that I didn't and brought me back to the store. She didn't want to hear it. I didn't want to go back and forth on the street because I'm not very confrontational. I was already embarrassed with everyone staring at me thinking that I stole food from a deli.
I go back and she pointed at the POS with a new price that said $7.65 and goes "you need to pay that." It wasn't even the same price of my order. It was even more embarrassing because now everyone in line is staring at me as if I stole. I tried to explain but she kept cutting me off telling me to "pay now". After I paid, then she let me tell her that I already paid and showed her my pay app that showed 2 transactions only a few minutes apart and at different prices. Once she tried to refund me the wrong amount, I was really over it. The manager then came over to handle it and refunded my $7.65. We're all human and mistakes happen but this was just really bad and again, embarrassing. If I was the manager, I would have refunded my entire order. It definitely felt like discrimination which I hate to say but with that feeling, I won't be going back to Essen again.

Site says they close at 2:30 but they stand at the door with attitudes saying they are closed before 2.
Incredibly slow and occasionally rude. The food isn't necessarily worth what you have to pay for it either. Highly do not recommend

I came in around noon expecting fresh food at the hot bar. I guess they prepare it a bit earlier for the lunch rush. I sampled a variety of options including: steam veggies, general tso chicken (I believe or maybe another type of Asian chicken that is similar), one calamari, salmon and shrimp.I was a big fan of ‘Essen since 2014. Seems as if they’ve closed all of their locations except this location. There isn’t much area to sit but there is some seating in the front (from other pics it looks like they may have seating upstairs but I was unaware). The veggies were tasty, the chicken was okay (a little dense), the salmon was alright (not as dry as expected) and the shrimp was so/so- it was difficult to pick pieces that were seasoned evenly. Overall it wasn’t bad, just very mediocre. Not sure I’d return soon. Cashier was friendly though it is annoying they charge more for using a card but I guess that’s not uncommon in NYC anymore.

There are a lot of options for food and there are some places where there are buffets per kilo.
But oddly enough, the store doesn't have bathrooms.
Vegetarian options: Has a vegetarian option
Parking: There is no parking and it is almost impossible to find a space nearby.
Wheelchair accessibility: It is accessible
