The space is beautiful and lively without feeling pretentious, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is warm and helpful, providing outstanding service that makes for a special night out. While portion sizes may not be large, the unique concepts and flavors, such as the beef tartare, and the creative, delightful dishes, make up for it. The menu features dishes served for sharing in ideal portions to try different options. Prices may be steep, but the overall experience, including the excellent food and service, is worth it. The place is a bit noisy, but that adds to its vibrant vibe. From the moment it opened, it carved out a singular voice in New York’s dining scene—and years later, it remains as relevant and exciting as ever. The menu constantly evolves, but always feels cohesive and deeply intuitive. Each dish surprises in the best way—unexpected combinations that feel both bold and comforting. The service is just as memorable: elevated, professional, yet effortlessly relaxed. Estela is a testament to what happens when vision, passion, and consistency collide. A true New York institution, and a must for anyone who appreciates food that challenges and delights in equal measure. Came in for lunch. The atmosphere is comfortable and the drinks menu was innovative. The food was a mixed bag. The scallop was perfectly balanced, the celery salad lacked creativity, the omelet was well made but the kelp that was served alongside was extremely salty that threw off the whole feel of the dish. The steak was cooked perfectly and the heirloom tomato was the highlight of the dish, but it felt that the ingredients did most of the carrying of the flavor. Absolutely delicious, can’t believe we hadn’t been here before! Every dish was outstanding; nothing felt lacking or off. Highlights included the beef tartare, the endive, and the dumplings, which were a surprisingly light delight. The cod was fabulous, and the chocolate cake was exquisite: perfectly balanced, not overly sweet. The cocktails were also excellent. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, though the seating is a bit tight between tables and it does get loud, but hey, this is NYC. Overall, an amazing experience, and we’ll definitely be coming back!
