PERMANENTLY CLOSED AS OF MAY 31, 2024
PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
Such a shame. The food was good but after they instituted a mandatory 20% gratuity it went to hell. Who would have thought that waiters would slack off on the job when given an automatic 20% tip?? Of course they did and they ruined this wonderful restaurant that I've enjoyed since 2006.
If the chef opens another restaurant, please make it known. I'll travel for the yummy goat cheese, beets and pistachio salad. ❤️
EXTRA VIRGIN IS CLOSED — NO LONGER IN BUSINESS They neglected to let us know after Open Table reservations were made, confirmed, re-confirmed, etc., etc. Sad to see them go, but it seems like they could've canceled their accounts, etc. Very unprofessional — to show up to meet a friend with no back up plan! But, we'll miss them, nonetheless.
My friend and I visited Extra Virgin after work. The outdoor seating area was nice, although the table and chairs were not evenly placed on the narrow dining platform.
The mushroom crusted Virgin chicken was good; the chicken breast wasn’t too dry, and the mushroom crust was crispy. The risotto was well-cooked and seasoned, but the dressing sauce was a bit too savory for our taste.
The bolognese ragotoni was alright. I wouldn’t say it’s the best or most impressive pasta I’ve had. Overall the price points are higher than other restaurants nearby.
Service was good.

Wednesday 5/8. We were looking at the menu and a guy that was navigating the photographer that was taking exterior pics came up to us and said: I NEED YOU TO GET UP AND STAND OVER THERE, because I NEED TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE RESTAURANT. Clown.
? Not even 1 word of apology for the inconvenience. Bizarre
Waitresses reaction to seeing us standing not sitting at our table was not professional either. Even after we sat down she didn’t apologize for the inconvenience, just started taking our order. I told her that the guys in sunglasses was very rude to use and he owes us drinks. She went inside and then came out with just: I’m sorry.
As a loyal customer I am amazed at this awful service as well as: maybe you should take pictures of the exterior before customers arrive instead of as I saw upon arrival taking pics pf the interior first.

Service terrible. There was bird poop on our table when we sat down. Had to ask several times to have it cleaned. We ordered a glass of white wine and sparkling water. The wine was warm and the water flat. The server told us the only option was to order a bottle for the table, which we did. He then proceeded to drop the entire bottle on the ground which smashed with our glasses. After a few more hiccups we ended up getting the check and canceling the food because the place was a total disaster.

Our experience was horrible. We were served terrible martinis and then ridiculed for asking for new ones. The staff seemed drunk and we could hear them making fun of us for returning warm drinks that tasted like all vermouth. They joked about just adding lots of olive juice to it to reserve the same drinks to us. Then they did exactly that. We left before ordering food and luckily found somewhere else to eat. I will never go back.
We're always delighted to bring people to Extra Virgin — it's one of our favorites! And, we feel very taken care of from the minute we arrive. Disappointed that they were out of Paella & the seared Tuna entree...?? But, we pivoted and enjoyed the roasted chicken and salmon instead — which are both perfectly prepared and delicious. We'll be back. We'll be back with more friends. A neighborhood gem, for sure!
Came here to support a Black-owned business. Did that, but the food and service was underwhelming.

I recently came to Extra Virgin for the first time with a group of friends and it was a great experience!! The staff are kind + accommodating, and the cocktails are delicious (try The Jagger for a tasty tequila-based drink). The atmosphere in here is great as well - it's really cozy. Our food was really good - the Ahi Tuna Crudo was a delicious starter. For a main, I tried the Parmesan Truffeled Fusilli. Was it the best pasta dish I've had or would I order it again? Absolutely not, as I found it a little underwhelming. I'd be compelled next time to try their Housemade Spinach & Ricotta Raviolini or Lemon Coated Icelandic Cod Fish, alternatively. However, I will say that, overall, we had a nice time during our visit and I'd return to this spot in the future!!

A cozy spot on one of the most charming streets in the West Village, Extra Virgin is a neighborhood gem. They'd done what they can to mitigate the noise, with acoustic panels covering the original tin ceiling, but it's still rather boisterous (and our group was contributing to the din). The food is great and reliable, drinks were very good but were very slow coming.
Martinis and burgers and port. Excellent evening. Lovely.
