San Gennaro Feast ‘23. September 19th, 2023. The Feast of San Gennaro, also known as San Gennaro Festival, is a Neapolitan and Italian-American patronal festival dedicated to Saint Januarius, patron saint of Naples and Little Italy, New York. In the United States, the "Festa of San Gennaro" is also a highlight of the year for New York's Little Italy, with the saint's polychrome statue carried through the middle of a street fair stretching for blocks.
Great Italian festival (September-ish I believe) full of great food and fun entertainment. Super crowded, but very organized. Food vendors everywhere, so you don’t really want to stick to a restaurant, just walk around and enjoy small bites of everything. Close to public transportation, so you can come from anywhere. Bring cash, some places don’t take card (we found one ATM that charged us a small fee)
The Feast of San Gennaro is an Event that I look Foward to Every Year. It's just a fun time, but also, if you say food. They have it, and enough to feed a whole army. Personally I always get Hot Sausage and Peppers on a hero, a Cannoli from Ferrara's Bakery. Also, Fried Oreo's Zeppole's Pasta, Fried Calamari, Rice Balls, and just all kinds of food. It's nice to hear the music that my grandparents played when I was a kid growing up. Definitely The Feast of San Gennaro is a Must for people to go once in a lifetime. But also I best recommend going Monday- Thursday Fri Night- Sat and Sunday are really packed.
Great feast, once again. I love being in the profession. ?? ♥️??
Worth going to, have cash & comfortable close toed shoes & expect alot of walking (gen nyc experience).
Fun time and great food
Who doesn't like the feast, besides the prices and the crowd, and parking, never forget about parking. $$$$$
I went to San Gennaro, Little Italy, NYC for the first time Sept. 2023 with out of town visitors and my puppy dog. The experience was so joyful and festive that I endorse everyone go and have a truly great time! ?? Just one word to the wise - we went the first Saturday of the weeklong event and the crowds were shoulder to shoulder. I had to carry my puppy to keep her from being trampled. Nonetheless, a good time was had by all and I will return to the neighborhood soon just for fun.Carrying a dog meant our restaurant options were limited to outdoor seating which were between few and none. Even so, NYC being the greatest city on the planet, we found a lovely spot just two blocks north in Nolita.
Had an awesome time with my son and his friends eating just about everything and D.C. enjoying NYC
A fair with a variety of Italian food, fun, be comfortable so you can enjoy it to the fullest. You can't leave without trying the oreos, pasta and sausages!!
