This used to be one of my favorite lunch spots in NYC, but it has definitely gone down in service and food since my last visit.
The food was just average and the service was beyond slow. The worst part though was after telling them I was allergic to pine nuts, they brought the bruschetta with pine nuts. When I pointed this error out, there was zero concern on the waiter's part.

Disappointed and Frustrated – No Notice of Closure
I had a confirmed reservation at Fig & Olive – Fifth Avenue for 5:00 PM. I received a confirmation email, so I made the trip expecting to enjoy dinner. When I arrived, the doors were locked and the location was completely closed — no sign, no email, no cancellation notice, nothing.
Fig & Olive still operates other locations in New York City, so this wasn’t a complete company shutdown. That makes the total lack of communication even more unacceptable. If a location is permanently closed, guests with active reservations should be notified in advance — it’s the bare minimum of customer service.
Because the restaurant was locked, I couldn’t experience any aspect of the visit — food, service, or ambiance. As a result, I gave them one star across every category. It’s disappointing to be treated this way by a well-known brand, and I won’t be booking with them again without double-confirming by phone.
If you’re considering dining here (or at any Fig & Olive), call ahead. A confirmation email clearly doesn’t mean much.

We showed up on Tuesday 4/22 to a closed restaurant with no notice so we didn't even have the chance to dine. Was very unfortunate and came from out of town to try.
Everyone here is so amazing and the food is by far the best I have had in a while. Their their specialty drinks were assembled with the best quality of juices, extracts and bitters, i was in awe of how smooth and balanced each and every cocktail I tried was. The starter dishes were delicious beyond words and I savored every bite. To sum up my visit, it was a very calm and relaxing atmosphere with every member of staff was happy, smiling and professional. It was a joy to visit this establishment.
I am saddened to hear they are closing their doors but I truly hope they can open another location, which doesnt need to be a continunace of this business. Just as long as they put the same attention, enegry and passion into the new place.

Food was delicious! Had their signature Fig and Olive salad to start. Good choice!
I had the Brick Free Range Chicken and my husband had their Atlantic Salmon - both were delicious and generous portions! The baked bread with fresh Greek olive oil was delicious too!
I also had a somewhat, not too dry Cabernet Sauvignon wine with dinner.
To finish we had the Cheesecake and it was fresh, creamy and not too sweet - perfect. It was covered with fresh blueberries and Strawberries.
The service was exemplary, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxing and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and time there.

We arrived for our 10pm post theater dinner, after rush 1/2 miles in the cold rain, to be told “someone had cancelled our reservation and the kitchen had closed.” I showed my OpenTable reservation and that it was NOT cancelled, and the maître d said “well yes it was, someone canceled it.” by that time it was too late to get in anywhere for dinner.
Waiter was awesome. If all waiters had that attitude, dining would be so much more pleasant all the time.

Let’s start as you should with the positive. The tuna Niçoise salad was fresh and delicious. However, asking for additional salad dressing and being charged $2.00 was petty. Ordering a cup of coffee for $5.75 and being charged an additional $5.75 for a refill was ridiculous. Also the smallest slice-not wedge-of cheesecake for $14 We have dined at Michelin restaurants throughout the city and never had this happen. If Fig and Olive wants to attempt to present themselves as a high end establishment, they have not only failed with their service but this foolish notion of overcharging customers for what should be part of their meal.
My receipt from Bryant Park Grill is below. Their coffee was outstanding. According to our waiter they were using a new blend. My friend and I both had refills. Do u see any additional charge?

Deafeningly loud and impossible to enjoy. As has become all too common in NYC, tables during lunch service are crammed to within inches of one another, causing a never-ending escalation in conversational volume sufficient to rival a jet engine. The food was fine but not worth the halting atmosphere.

Server forgot to give us the food menus and when flagged down for it was annoyed we even asked?
Food was pretty good though and the prix fixe menu was solid for the area. Great for a dinner with colleagues and friends without spending too much.
