Five Guys—Genuinely Good People Making Genuinely Good Burgers.
I’d heard some chatter about Five Guys and was craving a burger, so I decided to check out this NYC staple near Bryant Park on 6th Avenue.
The guy at the counter could not have been nicer as he walked me through how Five Guys handles its biz-ness!
I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger and a vanilla milkshake. While waiting, I noticed something refreshing: every single employee had a genuine smile on their face. Not the dead-eyed corporate zombie smile you see at most chains, but actual happiness. They were engaged, laughing with customers, working efficiently without looking miserable.
As my burger was being prepared, the gentleman at the register told the staff to throw in a heaping portion of fries—free of charge. Just because. That kind of gesture sticks with you.
First, the fries: absolutely delicious. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, perfectly salted. They just hit in all the right ways.
The burger was fantastic—two juicy patties cooked perfectly, bacon that was actually crispy (not limp and sad), cheese melted just right, and a bun that held everything together without falling apart mid-bite.
The milkshake was outstanding. Thick, creamy, actually tasted like real vanilla instead of whatever chemical concoction most places serve.
I plan on visiting often. It’s rare to find a chain that’s so well-run, understands what customer service is about, and actually seems to give a damn about the people walking through the door.

Spent half an hour in a line before any orders at the front of the line were taken. The man who took our order was visibly frustrated and so quiet we could barely hear him.

I am writing to share that Destiny is wonderful. We came in for a quick bite before a show, my boyfriend loves five guys so we decided to grab his favorite for his birthday dinner. I just mentioned casually it was his birthday and she went above and beyond to take care of his meal. He’s not someone who loves his birthday but this really made him so happy and surprised. Destiny definitely has exemplary customer service and we so appreciated it on this day! I hope if she isn’t a manager already that she is considered for that role. As someone who manages people myself, she has great qualities of someone who knows how to put the customer first and give them a wonderful, memorable experience. We will be back to this location!

Great place, the food burger and fries were delicious, the staff is very friendly, the place is clean, spacious, and not too busy First five guys for us and great experience!
The taste sensations are wonderful! Every item on the menu deserves praise. Both dish taste and employee professionalism were outstanding. The place is tiny but the food quality is impressive. We'll be back sooner rather than later.

Their desserts are rich but never overwhelming.
