food was gpod, but portions are skimpy and you need to order a side to get vewggies and a starch like rice or potatoes, so it becomes kind of pricey in the end too.
This was my first visit to Flex. I made the reservation outside because I heard how loud it was inside when I had walked by. Clearly the star of the show is the mussels. Not being a fan, I ordered a kale salad and the grilled salmon. The salad was okay and the portion very large. The salmon was excellent, as good as I've ever had. Would definitely recommend but sit outside if you can.
Flex a loud. People enjoying people...fun atmosphere! Service is top shelf. This is the only place to eat mussels! Big portions at reasonable prices! Cocktails are great as well!!! Highly recommended!
My favorite neighborhood spot-the food and service is consistently good. Parma mussels, burnt fingers, and fish tacos are my favs-even strayed from seafood and tried their burger once, it was delish. Highly recommend.
Deafeningly noisy. It was difficult to converse, even though we sat outside to be somewhat away from the loud music. Food and service were wonderful.
With a name like Flex Mussels you couldn't possibly allowed to have anything but the best mussels in the city! The oyster selection is great! Even the Happy Hour menu is amazing. Can't beat the price point for the quality!
I used to go to the old UES location and it was so much better. My experience at the new location was poor. We sat upstairs and the table was right by a stack of chairs- no ambiance. The service was mediocre. The waiter was quick to take order, sell wine. Not really engaging making for a blah experience. I recall the waiters at the previous location being personable and interested in serving well. The food was just ok, not great . I recall the menu being more extensive and creative with recipes for the mussel dishes. The donuts were good and the only part of the dinner that was consistent. Additionally , I was with a group of old friends that used to go to YOUR restaurant and it was just not the same on all levels. Big disappointment!
The food and service here are amazing. It's a bit noisy inside, so if you are looking for a quieter experience, I recommend outside.
We absolutely love flex mussels! My family and I have been going there for years. We went last night to celebrate our daughter‘s graduation and while the food was delicious, we were absolutely freezing the entire meal. We asked if the AC could be turned down a bit as it was blowing heavily on us. We asked multiple times and ended up having to put napkins over our shoulders to try to warm up. The table next to us was freezing as well. It wasn't even that cold outside! It really took away from the whole experience, the food got cold quickly, and it was beyond uncomfortable.
Food is very good but sound is deafening. If you go try for an outside table weather permitting.

Great food and great service as always. Oysters were fresh and delicious, Dijon mussels didn't disappoint.
We always have a lovely experience at Flex Mussels. They were able to accommodate us early for brunch, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. Plus the service was perfect! Highly recommend the lobster rolls and garden gimlet. So yummy!
Food and service here are always fantastic. Aside from the mussels, the french fries and donuts are what we come back for!!
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I make a point of eating here every time I'm in town and always order the mussels in Thai broth. My partner had a different one that was equally yummy! Keep on flexing!
Love the restaurant! They took my favorite brunch item off the menu....very unhappy....the Shelly eggs Benedict! Our waiter even said that other patrons complained that it is their favorite!
