We enjoyed the lively bustle in the main dining room. The food, service and vibe were perfect.

Miss the downtown location, but worth the trek uptown. Excellent mussels great drinks, and if the wreaths is nice, great indoor/outdoor seating. Perfect for people watching, mussels, and a nice crisp white wine or two.

I love Flex Mussels! The greeter is always welcoming; the waiters patient and efficient. We all had mussels and French fries, perfectly prepared. And they do amazing mocktails (I'm doing dry October) - I had the spicy Panoma beverage and it was so delicious and beautifully prepared I didn't feel deprived. Plates were cleared on time but not before we were ready. The only slightly negative comment is the place is so popular it can get quite loud, but next time I'll just go a little earlier.

Absolutely the worst service I’ve had in NYC for a restaurant of its price range and “reputation.”

To be specific, my best friend and I took our girlfriends out for what we thought would be a lovely dinner, but it was far from that. They served our drinks first, then took over 30 minutes to bring out their wine bottle. Our food took more than an hour to arrive, and every time we asked for something, I had to physically get up from our seats to remind the staff of what we’d requested.

My favorite part (not really) was when I asked for a side of chipotle mayo, and the server responded, “Your burger already has it.” Nice.

As our terrible experience continued, a new server took over our table and didn’t even acknowledge what we’d been dealing with.

I’m an understanding person, and if our original server was new or inexperienced, I can completely understand that. However, to be treated the way we were, and for no one to acknowledge it, shows a serious lack of awareness and class.

I can confidently say I will not be returning.

Underwhelming Experience at Flex Mussels UES. Visited recently and left feeling the vibe didn't quite match the hype. The food, particularly the Bangkok mussels, was flavorful and tasty, but honestly, nothing extraordinary or show-stopping. Portion sizes were on the small side, and at $32 for the Bangkok mussels (plus an extra $11 for Old Bay fries which, by the way, great on their own but not worth the premium, especially when solid moules and frites are available citywide for around $28), it felt overpriced. Lack of personal touch during our visit added to the underwhelming experience. Worth a visit if you're in the area and craving mussels, but maybe not a must-visit destination. Just something to consider.

I was excited to return to the restaurant as i had not yet been to the new location. I did not like being sat upstairs at all. It detracted from the experience as i felt as if i was in an upstairs could have been anywhere bland setting; this was an overall impact to the experience. They were quite busy but there was an extreme wait between courses. I would have preferred to be in the downstairs and participate in the atmosphere of the restaurant that is an important aspect to dining-

The mussels and bread were divine! I would skip the fish dishes. A bit annoyed we were charged $35 for a kids burger…

I've been to Flex several times. We went last night for mom's 99th birthday. Mussels are her favorite. I cannot impress enough how WONDERFUL our evening was. GREAT service by Joey our server and the attention by all: from the maitre to the busboy.., The food was terrific. Large meaty fresh mussels, seasoned perfectly (we had classic and parm). The bread, as always was great. The seared pea pods were excellent. My martini hit the spot. They were all so nice and even brought mom a donut with a candle at the end!! What a great night! My only criticism was that the bathrooms were too dark lol. Kudos to Flex!!! 🥰🥰👍🏻

The food was amazing. Everything we ordered was unique from the guacamole and liver dip to the mussels. Dessert was over the top. Doughnuts are always a treat. Jack our waiter could not do enough for us.

Flex never disappoints. We've been coming for special occasions for years. It's a staple of our relationship and we love coming and enjoying delicious food.

We live nearby and always enjoy dinner at Flex Mussels. The food is always good but the service is really the standout at this restaurant. Every server is absolutely lovely and goes out of his/her way to make sure you enjoy your evening. Take note that while the mussels are, of course, excellent, the grilled salmon dish is one of the best in the City. Truly. Finally, their Happy Hour pricing is amazing. Fortunately, my husband and I enjoy dinner around 9pm!
