One of my favorite place to grab a quick Chinese meal.Born and grown up in China, I would say the dishes there are great and remind me of the food back at home. The staff there are quite pleasant as well, though do not expect the “how’s everything going” kinda service like you would get in some restaurants. But I personally prefer that they keep the service minimal so that I can enjoy my time with friends.Overall, strongly recommend if you like noodles and Chinese food!

Came here after seeing the raving reviews from others. Ordered just the popcorn chicken, and it was ready immediately, which was a little worrisome for me. Since it's fried, if it's fresh, it should always take a bit of time. Once I saw and tasted it, I realized this definitely wasn't fresh. The chicken was soggy and lukewarm, and the meat itself was reminiscent of boiled chicken skin in terms of texture. The flavor was also just five spice, and I didn't get much salt or white pepper, which is the classic flavor profile that I'm familiar with. Overall, a disappointing meal, couldn't finish it. Perhaps I should have tried the noodle dishes, which had higher ratings, but likely won't be back after this experience

The good was in big portions, a little too salty for my taste. Average price in Manhattan.

Four Four South Village is an affordable Taiwanese spot with quick service. Went on a Saturday for lunch time and we were the only guests there, so we were seated immediately and service was very fast. Service was quick, quality of service was ok - This is an in and out type of place. The restaurant is spacious and you don't feel crammed at all, unlike many places in the area. Started off with the Jade Cucumber and Spiced Edamame. Both solid - if you are going to share the starters, get 2+ since the starters are portioned small. Got the Noodles with Beef & Braised sauce. The noodles were thick and tasty and the sauce was good. Recommend asking for some soy sauce and pouring a generous amount in - It really elevated the flavor and took the dish up a notch.

If you have a hankering for some amazing Taiwanese food, head over to Four Four South Village. They have some of the best Taiwanese food I've had in the city. As per their website, they "invited the Chefs who have won the gold medal and silver medal of the International Section of Taipei International Beef Noodle Festival to be their R & D team." I ate their beef noodle soup and scallion pancake beef roll. They were both sublime.

I visited their east village location on this occasion. I had the spicy beef and tendon noodle soup. It wasn't overly spicy which was perfect for me. The beef was super tender. The tendon was nice and chewy. This is a fantastic place for a quick beef noodle dish when the mood sets in.

Food 6/10Got takeout. Pretty solid dishes. We got the beef noodle soup and some side dishes. The noodles weren’t as bouncy as I wished, but there was plenty of beef and so that made me happy.

Food was okay it’s not really authentic taiwanese and I don’t think the chain store is actually taiwanese owned. The waiters are nice but I always get about 90 percent of rice with 2 bokchoy, and some pork when I order their braise pork over rice. I would tell them not to give me so much rice and give me half and maybe some more veggie, (not even the meat) the manager would tell me “no” like I owe them some money. Really not a great experience and hence I gave them just 1 star, I doubt they would survive long term without loyal customers if they keep up with this cheap and stingy attitude
