I was very sorry to see they closed as they deserved 6 starts for food & friendly service

I am giving one star so this will be noticed by the staff, not because of food or bus staff, mainly because of one waiter. I was in the resteraunt within the past few days and I had a waiter with red hair, a beard, and his hair pulled into a poney tail, he never obliged the table with his name. We ordered drinks, then a few minutes later two appetizers and food with a bottle of wine. The original drinks came and then it went belly up. Our waiter never checked back in with us, never updated us, and never once asked how we were doing. Instead the following happened. 1. 10 minutes after ordering drinks and food two Negronis come seems good. 2. 30 minutes after ordering drinks and food we are shown a bottle of wine. We are hungry but but we ask for the wine to be served with dinner, our biggest and smallest mistake (keep reading) 3.. After over an hour the food runner brought us an appetizer, we informed him we didn't order it he disappeared for a minute. He then returned and said it was on the house and our hopes of food rise. A minute later our absent waiter (who hasn't been around for anything) came and realized it wasn't ours and said so, we told him the food runner said it was on the house and he said oh well because it was placed on the table its on me now and left. 4. One hour and five minutes we ask for our wine to be served, thinking entrees will be coming soon as we received some food, we interrupt the waiter on his rounds to ask, he doesn't stop by. 5. One hour 10 minutes wine is served and then shortly after waiter changes his shirt to a casual one, red flags are raised. 6. One hour 20 minutes waiter walks out the door never tells is he's getting off shift or who will be taking care of us. Is our food even ordered? We haven't been updated once. 7.. One hour 30 minutes our original appetizers of cured meats and cheeses, of which NONE is cooked arrives, I could have driven to Jersey and back with this order. We are each a glass and a half in of wine out of a single bottle. 8. One hour forty minutes original appetizers ordered over an hour ago are finished, we only have what is left in our glasses left, wine is scarce hoping it will last. 9. Entree arrives two hours after we sit wine is at a minimum and we eat. We feel bad because we know that we need to complain but new waitress is incredibly attentive so we know it's not her fault. 10. Two hours and 15 minutes and our meal is finished without wine, a bottle won't last two grown men an hour, we lament we don't have a second but dare not order it. Our replacement server comes and asks us how everything is we thank her and say food was great (it was) 11. Two hours 17 minutes our replacement server comes with the check, holy smokes the response time is incredible! I ask her what happened to original server, why he left, why it took so long, etc. She says food was served to another table (he never updated us) and covered for him like a pro. I see the bill turns out he charged and took off an appetizer (see point 3) as if we ordered it. 12. Server comps us some appetizers we are extremely grateful the cook staff our replacement waiter the food runners the bus boys ALL top notch. The one issue is our waiter who we don't even think put in our order til he left. We leave. Frankies you have good waiters you have good chefs you have good bus boys and food runners. Your two strikes are on your ATROCIOUS waiter who is hot garbage, and I'd also say on the manager for never coming and asking how we were doing or monitoring ticket time for our table. Other than that I'd eat here again this 1 star is so that it's noticed because this type of service sinks a resteraunt and it was so bad we gave a cash tip and asked for it not to be shared with our server, first time in seven years in Manhattan. PS Fettucini with Sausage is awesome.

Awesome. Great service, perfect size portions, delicious food. Cavetelli is amazing, Lemon Ricotta ravioli rocks, and the whole staff is amazing. Shout out to Paulo, who made the night really special

Nothing in common with Frankies in Brooklyn. Bland limp cooking. Extremely noisy. Loads of attitude. There are fabulous alternative Italian spots elsewhere in the neighbourhood.

Whenever I'm in NY, I head to Frankie's!! The staff is great, the food is great ..The bruschetta is delicious with fresh Italian bread..Everything is good every time I go!! I always try to get outside sitting to watch the sights & sounds of the West Village. Enjoy!

Too loud to enjoy the good things about the restaurant. Really...never been in such an environment for such a high end restaurant. If I had known....

Impromptu dinner at Frankie's and we had the most amazingly delicious meal. The gnocchi was off the charts delicious!

Some of the freshest pasta I've had all year. Great spot. Reasonable prices for the quality of the experience. Strongly recommend.

The food was good, the ambiance nice, and the indoor area was quiet because everyone else was eating outdoors. Prices are pretty average for Manhattan. My daughter and I had the gnocchi which were excellent. My brother and my son-in-law had the meatballs and very much enjoyed them. My wife had branzino which was excellent. And my mother had the eggplant which she didn't like but she's 97 years old and tends to be a bit hypercritical, especially about my wife's cooking. (My wife is an excellent cook.) The waitress was not very responsive. When she was asked about the meatballs, her response was, "they're meatballs." Another one of her responses was, "Look at the menu." My son-in-law thought she reminded him of a server in a Communist kibbutz. She probably is studying for her PhD in astrophysics or something.

the food and service was good but the portion sizes were absurdly small. 3 scallops with peas for $31?

I walked out last time and once again this time. Can the food be any saltier and dreadful?

Downgrade big time. Used to be a fav. But hear nasty things. Didn't believe it. Now it so. Very careless and lazy staff, food tastes stale and old. Time for a big change. What a slip downwards.

Frankie's is a great place, constantly tasteful food, good service, great management. 10/10, great choice, especially for dinner or a date!

Bustling, fun atmosphere with amazing food! (Roasted chicken is epic... As well as the chicken livers)

The food was good, but not good enough for $25-$30 plates. We walked away still hungry :(
